Who else is geeked out and excited about this weekend? How many of you have the bubble gut (hungover waffle house meals not included) about your game? I can't remember a tournament where I was so elated, yet completely on edge. Anticipation is driving me crazy over here on the blue side, which makes me think about you guys as well. I have to imagine it is just as bad or worse on the orange side. UT is in a position to make a serious breakthrough in terms of the basketball programs tradition and respect on a national level. UT is playing for something that quite frankly means more on the national scene.

Here on the blue side of the fence, its hysteria because we have tasted it and want more, more, and more. Another title on the mantle doesn’t really change anything, in most people’s eyes. We will just want another one. However, UT has a chance to breakdown a door and walk through it, which could change everything. Perception, respect, recruiting…. The list goes on and on. Making the final four will be a huge success for the program, let alone winning the whole damn thing.

And quite frankly, I’m in your corner and on the wagon. Give em’ hell VOLS.

The above paragraph is valid only as it pertains to UT on its side of the bracket. It shall be temporarily void in the event our two teams meet in the NC game. Should that happen, I wish you nothing but the best in your runner-up parade. :)

:hi: Good luck to you as well! I was thinking (on the way in to work this morning) how awesome it would be to meet UK for the NC in basketball. That game is always hyped anyway.....can you imagine how pumped everyone would be? Has anyone ever played each other 4 times in a season?

I have now changed my mind about you. Great Points and Good Post. This game is the pivot point at this time for UT basketball.

Not to say that there will not be more in the future but it is the time and opportunity to move forward. It is not early or late in the process. It is the right time for this program. Provides a balance for UT Athelics.

It is the rare opportunity that is seldom offered we are set up to make this run. I am pretty pumped. I like the low under the radar scene. IF we get there, their will always be doubters and critics but who cares. This team may be destined who knows and its not a Cinderalla story line nor is one that anyone can state I told you so. It will be something that says they may have answer the call when down.

If Tennessee does face KY in the NC game. It would mean Tennessee wins their first ever Men's National Championship.
Truly believe this team makes the final 4. To be determined if they win. This team has unusual chemistry.

We just have to take it one game at a time...this one will be our biggest test until the Final Four so it is huge!

Good luck to the Cats...I think you guys will handle Cornell, but WVU (even without Truck) could be a great game!

This has been the longest week.

This board has not helped shortened it either. The low profile I think we adopted this week has also been a killer.

Knowing that CBP has got something in mind to deal with the 4 guard system that OSU runs builds the anticipation.

Not Knowing which team shows is another minor point, but it is at the back of you mind.

Wondering which crew will ref this game is a concern. Past tournaments is always a great example. Depends on calling it loose or tight and whether it is equal. There will always be missed calls but just want fouls called the same.

Focus is not an issue, I would not think.

Listening to the others on their boards and the stupidity of 15 pt and 20 pt wins.

I'll be at the Tilted Kilt in Kennesaw. All ATL Vol fans are welcome to join me and let's make a viewing party out of it! (and we can watch the game too!)

Hardwood, do you think Cornell is a legitimate threat? The rational side of my brain thinks Kentucky is too much for them to handle, even if Kentucky sleep-walks and they play the game of their lives.

But the creative side of my brain thinks a Cornell win would be the biggest basketball upset of all time. I mean, a team with potentially 3 top 10 draft picks THIS YEAR, and at least a few more future NBA players on top of that, vs. a team from a school that doesn't give out athletic scholarships...

Wow.

Wow.

Well, Kentucky has had some serious issues with two things this season. Playing a strictly half court game, and guarding the three point shot.

Cornell can run, but they most likely will work the shot clock and look for the three, then drop 5 guys back to stop the run. This puts us in a halfcourt game. HOWEVER, our size down low and athletic ability should cancel this out. We struggled against big, athletic teams. Cornell is neither.

As for the three point shot, Cornell is the best in the country. During the first part of the season, we struggled defending it. However, since Cornell is built solely upon shooting the three, I think we will be prepared to guard it well. Also, we are obviously a much better defensive team now than we were. for the two tournament games, we are holding teams to 18% from the arc.

Cornell has the ability to beat Kentucky if we refuse to guard the 3, and they shoot something ridiculous like 17-25 or something.

However, I think that we can let them hit 10-12 three's, and still win handily by controlling the boards and getting the ball down low.

I don't think we lose this game, but thats why they play them.
