Good luck TSU getting a bowl bid.

But a playoff is closer to perfect than the BCS.
umm....no. See above scenerio.

Its trying to guess who was one of the 24 teams to get in as opposed to the best two. But 5-6 Lafayette is in over them. That's a seriously flawed system. No, stupid system.

Trying to guess the best 2 is way more stupid than trying to guess the best 24.

But that's not even the point, no one said you can't make a playoff format stupid, and expanding what was a pretty good system at 16 to 24 was stupid. I would agree that is the drawback of a playoff, but that's more on the organizers. The basic logic of a playoff is still superior than trying to determine the best 2 teams by polls and computers.

Very true, and I don't see FBS ever going to a playoff that large.
But for FCS, the playoffs are what they're known for. 24 seems too big to me too, but at least it means an auto bid for every conference that wants to participate.

This debate started when I questioned the Pioneer League for choosing its champion based on computer polls while there were a week of games left (though no games left involving the tied teams). But, that is a completely separate debate from whether or not the FCS playoffs are a flawed system. It's the weakest league, only one team goes, and the co-champs didn't play, so they needed to break the tie somehow. Without a playoff, neither team would be doing anything meaningful again this season. And, their method for picking a representative was fine. It was just odd to do it before the final Saturday of games.

When you figure in the amount of planning and coordination required by the administration to make all the arrangements for a playoff game it makes sense. Making plans for travel and lodging alone is extremely difficult and any extra time you can have to do it is invaluable. Neither team could really complain about the pick so the extra days to get everything together for the trip is worth the criticism for making the selection a week early..

Many of the other bids weren't known until after the final Saturday. I don't see why the Pioneer League winner would need more time than anyone else.

In all seriousness, congrats to TSU. They won their playoff game against Butler and this weekend play their fellow OVC member and OVC Champion Eastern Illinois this Saturday.

Bison Threepeat. Great coach and one of the best defenses in college football - FBS included.
