I went through all of the 2011 ESPN 150 Watch List prospects and counted the number of players that listed each school as being an early favorite. (Yeah - I know, get a life - but I did it at work! :birgits_giggle:) These totals include commitments.

1. Tennessee 60
2. Florida 50
3. Georgia 46
4. Alabama 45
5. Florida St. 43
6. LSU 40
7. Clemson 36
8. Miami 35
9. South Carolina 33
10. USC 32

also,

Auburn 31
Ole Miss 19
Mississippi St 10
Vandy 8
Arkansas 7
Kentucky 7

You'll note that #s 2-10 all reside in the middle of very fertile recruiting turf. Thus you would expect a lot of early "right in my backyard" interest.

But what is up with that #1 team? New staff. Very little home state talent. 7 wins and 10 losses since the start of 2008. And they are not just barely number one. Look at the gradual increase from #10 to #2 and then the step change (10 players) to #1.

Enjoy.:worship:

well were gonna rack up on Qb OL and some more skill position players

Funny you should ask...

The 60 expressing interest in the Vols break down as follows:

9 Running Backs (the Bryce Brown effect?)
8 Wide Receivers (the I'm a starter on day 1 effect?)
7 Quarterbacks (ditto) (7 out of 25 listed)
7 Defensive Ends (the Orgeron effect?)
7 Athletes
6 Linebackers
5 Defensive Tackles
4 Safeties (the Heisman Campaign effect)
2 Tight Ends

4 Offensive Linemen (Damn it!!)
1 Cornerback (?)

What's weird is how USC has only 32 that's just crazy!

Even though USC only had 32 recruits list them, about half on these recruits listed only USC or listed USC and one other team. I think the Trojans will be fine.

One last detail, states of residence for 2011 Tennessee prospects:

Florida 13
Georgia 8
Tennessee 7
South Carolina 6
North Carolina 5
Ohio 4
Louisiana 3
Texas 2
Viriginia 2
California 2
4 others from NE US

Outlook for a Florida pipeline remains promising. Tennessee 2011 class looks solid. We need to dominate in the Carolinas like we did in the 1990s.
