Good OC presser

This guy seems destined to be a head coach. Hope UT locks him in with money and a great work environment. Well spoken, high football IQ
Yep, totally agree.

I think we have him until we get our first Heupel-era championship season. Then, we lose him.

He could leave before then, but if he did it would be for a Group of 5 program. If he waits until he has championship credentials, he can get an upgrade to the Duke - Vandy - Cal - Illinois tier, and a salary measured in millions rather than hundreds of thousands.

He isn’t going to sit there and tell you everything. Anyone can watch these interviews. There’s a lot more being said behind closed doors about the screw ups.
Exactly these coaches are pretty tight lipped, which is what you want lol

Good lord, don’t say that man. You’re gonna have em coming out of the wood work saying you should apply for the job.

Yes, it’s very concerning that they don’t think scheme was a problem. I didn’t see any adjustments. It was like watching Alex Brown in 1999.
You still won't stop. Do not complain about stalking.

I never read the "official game threads," because (a) I'd rather give my full attention to the game while it's on, and (b) the thread flows way too fast for conversations, it's just 100+ people giving stream of consciousness, and (c) the thread seems to attract the worst and most petulant among us.

So I don't know this to be a fact, but it appears we have a few folks in this thread who locked themselves into the first dumb idea they had while watching the game, something along the lines of "WhY aReN't ThEsE cOaChs MAKING ADJUSTMANTS!Q?!?"

And, having expressed that incredibly deep thought, now they're going to die on the hill defending it. In spite of a complete lack of evidence.

But, again, I could be wrong. I didn't read that thread.

Go Vols!

Definitely. Hope we can keep him a bit longer.

Think he’s a tad upset about preset penalties?

I like the guy and I'm not gonna beat him up but him saying that our scheme was correct is worrisome. You can't fix a problem if you don't think it exists. We didn't play our typical game. We were not aggressive with our playcalling. We played ultra safe. We were worried about protecting Hooker so our RB's didn't block then release to be a safety valve. We rarely challenged them downfield. We played to try and mitigate GA's strengths instead of cashing in on ours. Really surprised at us not running screens to shut down that blitz. Maybe behind closed doors they are saying the same thing. GA gave everyone the playbook for beating us if you have the horses to play with us. regardless if anyone else has the horses or not, they are going to have to try the GA gameplan because nothing else has been shown to work. During regular season this won't likely be effective. But post season, this will be our obstacle.

I was at that game. My first trip to Gainesville. Rough week. We drove down to the beach the week before and hurricane rolled up the east coast and had forced evacuation from our hotel. The remnants were still hanging around game day. It was a cloudy, gloomy day, and a long drive back to Tennessee.

That's a position where we need a Juco. Small has unfortunately had shoulder problems.
Agreed. The elite RBs are still going to run savvy teams like Bama, OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, where there is a featured back. Hope we can go all in recruiting one of these kids and they can see what this offense does for a back that can hit that crease and get the second guy to miss. Our backs are good and work well in the offense, but we need one with the breakaway potential.

Ditto. Prime example of us making a star out of player who no one has heard of before that game. Also great example of “sticking to the game plan” mentality that eroded our program.

that toss to Jamal on 4th was brilliant. Man, it still makes me mad. That team was on the brink of getting back into the title hunt until they choked against Arkansas

Yep, on the holding ball too long I think he was protecting Hooker, especially since the reporter stated Hooker said he didn’t think he held the ball to long.
Some of sacks where due to receivers not getting any separation, some due to with crowd noise & the D started timing the snap. The pre snap penalties not only got us behind the chains but gave UGA time to make key subs for down/distance. That and how the #1 ranking and a lot of media picking UT. All this & more was a perfect storm & they just had better players on D to sub in certain situations than we had seen so far. That’s why recruiting 4&5* on 2 deep is a luxury. I would love to play them again on a neutral field.
Georgia got away with a lot of defensive holding of our receivers, but the thing that killed us was the pre snap penalties. Our scheme was good enough to wi, our execution was not. We also has two really screw ups in the defensive secondary which put us in a hole on the score board.
