Trappeze has the best beer selection I've ever seen in the south. It's worth singling out for anybody going to the game who might be interested in quality beer.

While I support your statement as this being the best beer selection in Athens, I can not say this is the best list in the South.

Do check out The Brick Store in Decatur, GA. Highly regarded as hobbyists as the best beer bar in the region. Google it, then check out Beer Advocate's report on it. That, my friend, is the best beer selection in the South.

K-Bob's on South Lumpkin.

About that.

K-Bob's on South Lumpkin is long gone. Achim, the owner, opened a second K-Bob's on Broad, then closed the South Lumpkin location.

Well, then K-Bob's turned into Uncle Otto's. Everything else remained the same. Seriously. Same great sandwich and fries.

Then a couple months ago, the Uncle Otto's on Broad closed, and the Keba Spitfire Grill opened on Barnett Shoals. Again, same sandwich and fries, but more menu options along with this version of the original K-Bob's. Achim is looking to franchise also, which is why I believe this final change has been made. I still miss the feel of the original on South Lumpkin, the quotes on the wall, and the pictures, too. It's still the same great product. Go get some.

The team's pregame meal was at the Brick Oven in Atlanta.

..and it showed all game long.

*cymbal crash*

Seriously, they tend to hang in that perimeter area when any UT team comes to Atlanta.

I'll never forget running into members of Pride of the Southland playing Rock Band at the perimeter Best Buy a few years back. Hilarious.

The Grill and The Taco Stand are solid old school picks.

Loco's has some good grub and is a great place to throw back some brews as well.

I go to the Brick Store regularly. It pains me to say it, but Trappeze wins. Their selection is just as eclectic and well-thought-out as the Brick Store's, and they have two or three times as many beers on tap at any given time.

The Porter in Little 5 Points may actually be ahead of the Brick Store now for the same reason: just as high-quality beer, only lots more of it. The only problem is that you have to deal with Little 5 Points to go there.

I say all this as somebody who's been a devoted fan of the Brick Store for over ten years.

The Brick Store has a great beer selection and good atmosphere. It can be a little "yuppy" at times, though. Trappeze is great.
