Good read about Saturday's game from si.com

With visits to Norman and Athens in consecutive weeks, Jones' team is taking the most difficult road available.

Guess they missed our bye week.

It's frightening how young our team is.

Excellent article. Makes it way more personal than just some weights and recruiting rankings. Thinking just how truly young and green this team is reminds one to have some patience. They are basically headed out to face guys 25lbs heavier and 4 years older. Tall order for any team. Hopefully the veterans rise up and lead the way because in truth the youngsters are already light years ahead of where they'd be required to be in most programs.

The plus side to this to imagine this group in 3 years. Man imagine how damned seasoned and angry they will be. Add in guys like Khalil and Dormandy at 2 years in and you will have a squad full of bad bad men.

These kinds of tests will be rough this year, but a lot of our current freshman will be playing like seniors by as early as next season.

And the best part is that we'll still have the majority of them all the way through 2017.

I just had to take a moment to highlight this tidbit.

Upon its arrival in Norman, a Tennessee team with 13 freshmen or redshirt freshmen position players on its two-deep depth chart will face an Oklahoma team with 12 fifth-year seniors, seniors or redshirt juniors on its two-deep.

“The exciting thing is that this football team is going to be around for a very, very long period of time," Jones said. "That’s why we can’t take any shortcuts. There will be no shortcuts taken because you’ll pay the price of those shortcuts two years from now."

Can't be stated any better than that.

Hopefully the Vols will keep this game respectable and get out healthy. The depth numbers will look much better next year in Knoxville.

CBJ has mentioned in the past they need mental toughness, now the staff is saying they have it.. I surely hope so.. it'll go a long way this game. I also hope our kids come out and play with a reckless abandon that's stemming from a deep hunger to not lose.

Good opportunity for the team leaders to come forward and help the younger guys to stay focused

I don't think that the players haven't embraced the culture... Just get on campus and you can feel a difference when people talk about the team... It just takes a while to work that culture out into results... But we are getting there.

Very good point

Really accurate and enjoyable article. If ABC sports gives similar acolades to this group on Saturday, and the Vols display visions of an up and coming power house, then maybe the Settles and Tuttles and Sweats out there will wind up in Knoxville. So true about Dooley's malfeasance of neglecting to sign O linemen. Maybe some of those megatrons will take notice and come on board. Win or lose.....let's give 'em a show.
