Goodbye to Jefferson Pilot Sports' SEC telecasts

that was actually pretty funny, esp. the part about the southerner being anywhere outside the south and asking if the JP game was on....been there, done that, guilty as charged.

I thought JP did a terrible job. You would think that the top and richest confrence in the nation could do better. I hope LF makes changes in how they cover the games.

ah, JP was not very good, we all know it...but it served a purpose, and for that, i was grateful.

That was too funny. Since moving from TN, I have missed the games..but not necessarily the JP part of it. Honestly, I don't care who brings me the games as long as I get them...thanks for the post..that was a great read!

This is sad. I live in Las Vegas and only saw UT courtesy of JP Sports. I ordered ESPN Gameplan last season for the sole purpose of watching the Big Orange and only one freakin game was televised!

Ugh, our first game is on JP or whatever....start the year off with an 1130am time....well 1130 for me :(

You had me so fired up that I was not going to have to get up before sunrise to tailgate. Nothing is worse than the news you have the "early game" on Tuesday. Personally I think it looks like 1985 telecast and I expect Coach Majors to run throught the T. In the age of HD, These telecast look even worse.

Unfortunately, nothing is going to change, other than the name.

Same announcers, same crappy coverage.

I liked JP just because it was SEC football, but what I didn't like was that it comes on CBS here in Morristown and the game would usually run over until nearly 4 in the afternoon while a game like Georgia vs. Florida would be coming on CBS but yet I'm stuck watching the rest of Auburn beating Miss. State 42-0, and miss the first score of the UGA/UF game. That always made me mad!:realmad:

at least you got to watch an SEC game....imagine watching Wake Forest vs. Duke on JP/CBS and it going in to Overtime when the TN/Bama game started at 3.30....talke about pissed.

the good thing was that here in Tenn. WVLT/CBS would switch over to the UT game on CBS when it came on....so I guess I didn't have it as bad as you then huh?

CBS is known for their inability to move on to the next game if it has a higher rating. I have sat with cold beer in hand many times steaming because was showing a game that was 40-7 through to the handshake before they cut into the next game.

yeah, we don't have that luxury...we get two JP games here...the SEC game which is on the local cable channel here, and the ACC game which is aired by local CBS affiliate...we're in ACC terrirtory, so it's a pain we have to live with here...and don't worry, i tried calling the tv station that day...no one was home....:realmad:

I feel your pain. I'm in Durham. I called our CBS affiliate the day of that Bama game, too. Nobody home there either. At least you get the JP SEC game. We don't even get that.

oh, that does suck..the only reason we get it in Charlotte is our proximity to all those South Carolina suburbs....so gamecock fans can keep up with the SEC football day...
