At least thats how i feel about. There seems to be a rush by certain outlets like NFL Network big surprise there right folks? And a few at espn like mike greenburg, pal sal sorry don't know his fullname but he's an NFL reporter on their Network(espn) In my opinion after watching yesterday's tapes its clear to me that Goodell destroyed the real proof back in september. Maybe i'm nuts about this whole thing but it doesn't pass the smell test. I mean why did it take the NFL 3months to hammer out and agreement to get walsh to talk? Because the tapes that the NFL released showed very little? And does anybody believe belichick's answer that he never used the said tapes during the same game like the 2001 afc championship game against my beloved steelers i say hell no!!!! I think this deals a serious blow to the NFL's credibility.

A different tune than I had been singing on this issue, but my thoughts...

- There was more cheating going on than we knew about.
- Roger Goodell, for whatever reason, has an agenda to protect the image of the Patriots to some degree.
- This situation does not tarnish the legacy of the Patriots.

i don't think there's anymore to it than what we now know. if there was, Congress would be all over like a fat kid on cake. even Goodell has to answer to somebody.

there was more cheating that what we know about because the Patroits weren't the only only team doing it. they just happened to be:

1. a high profile team
2. caught.

They weren't the only team to do it until the NFL sent out a memo that it was not going to be allowed. The Patriots just figured they would claim ignorance if they got caught, which they did on both counts.

I'm with you on Goodell wanting to protect the Patriots for some reason.

He storms into the league like a bat out of hell with suspensions, changing the logo, putting those capatain badges on players, etc. I know the two latter has nothing to do with this but it just shows how proactive he's been in his time as Commish.

Now he destroys tapes and takes all that time to put this to bed? I just don't get it.

I share the opinion of a caller on FSR yesterday in that the whole Patriots draft this year (including the San Fran pick) should have been scratched. He wants to put people in the dirt for making it rain, DUI's, drug charges, and such but when some one in the league cheats he throws out fines which won't put a dent in Bob Kraft's check book, just don't smell right.

PS: The whole "The Pats didn't look at the tapes during halftime" might be the biggest crock of %^$# I've ever heard.

the punishment has to fit the crime. what did you want him to do? fine the Pats 1 billion dollars for stealing some signals?

you played baseball. you know this happens all the time.

exactly what any other team would have done as well.

The only difference is those "other" teams took the league at face value and stopped the practice when they were told it wasn't allowed.

how do you know?

Had there been anyone else doing it we would have investigations into those as well. After this story broke many in NFL circles said it was the practice of some teams to do this. By all accounts they stopped when told it would be an infraction.

nobody else got caught.

just because something becomes illegal doesn't mean people stop doing it. it just means they're not getting caught.

Agreed. I'll add that Goodell made it sound like the only advantage the Pats got out of this was against their divisional foes. That's because they reviewed tapes between games and then had an edge in round 2. However, I'm pretty damn sure they did the same thing to the Colts. The difference being that the second time the Pats met the Colts it was in the playoffs, twice with a Super Bowl trip on the line.

Additionally, there's no way it was just happening with the rivals. They showed footage of several teams that weren't in the Pats division. I think I may have even seen one team from the NFC.

Also, the way Goodell is acting like they've pretty much proven a Rams Super Bowl walkthrough videotape doesn't exist is fishy. First of all, I was under the impression that Walsh wasn't the only videographer for the Pats. Second, they have videotapes that predate that Super Bowl, so if the Pats were cheating in the regular season, why would they quit doing it in the most important game of them all?

Goodell destroying the first batch of tapes, obviously, is shady as hell.

Plenty of UT students plagiarize essays. That doesn't mean if you get caught your ass isn't getting expelled. I'm sure some other teams were bending the rules. Congrats on not getting caught. The Pats need a tougher punishment in my opinion. Goodell made an example out of Pac-Man and Chris Henry. Why is he letting a team that potentially scandalized the last 7 years of NFL football get off so easy?

never said it didn't.

all i'm saying is that you just can't assume that because somebody says they aren't cheating that they in fact aren't cheating.

Yes, but as a team we never set up a video camera to get the signs from the third base or pitching coach.

We do it during the course of a game and being a pitcher and not a good one at that I spent a big share of my time keeping an eye on the pitching coach for our batters.

I think scrapping the whole 2007 Draft of the Patriots would have sent a message that this isn't going to fly. Even a Bellicheck suspension would have been better. Bob Kraft wipes his ass with 500,000. That doesn't matter to him or the Patriots, neither will it put a dent in anything they are doing.

i wasn't trying to imply that your team specifically did, hope you didn't take it that way.

i'm just saying that teams have been known to set up cameras in center field or on the coaches.

Oh I don't care. I know some college's do that stuff but they will never get caught. No one really cares about NCAA baseball so why even look for it.

Last year we did play Frostburg St. and they had a cool little deal. Each player wore a QB arm band and the coach would put up fingers and they would look at the arm band to find the corresponding numbers.

I thought it was genius. You can't steal those signs. They can be changed daily with out practice.

Every team I played on would always try to steal signs and our opponents would try to steal ours. One team the pitchers and catchers would call their own game so us pitchers would sit in the dugout giving signs to the catcher. They meant absolutley nothing but we'd have another coaches attention for 9 innings for absolutley nothing.

Baseball is the ultimate cat and mouse game. The only time it gets ugly is if a player is on second and tips off the batter to what pitch is coming. If anyone catches you doing that then your getting one in the head, without a doubt.

Below was and still is my take on the pats as a NFL/goverment creation. At the time of this post nobody and mean nobody gave the giants chance in hell. I have no proof but i think the NFL forced the pats to throw the game because the heat of spygate exploded on the eve of the superbowl. With the alleged tapping of the st.louis rams walkthrough before sb36.

Well its been two weeks of the media swallowing hard for the patriots and as you would guess its near 100% infavor of the saintly pats. As much as i would like to see Eli and the Giants pull it off theres just no way in hell that will happen. First things first the NFL did NOT go out of their way to make this FRAUD happen for nothing. The NFL wants this to happen and so it will, and afterward the pats will be proclaimed the greatest ever. One has to wonder how the NFL seems to skate by on topics like steroids and HGH but they do,must have some naked pics of a high ranking goverement official? Further more the thought that the pats are the greastest ever is abit confusing if you look at their roster. Only brady is a for sure Hall of famer, but armed with that fact the national media is ready to crown the pats as the all-time greats. Besides if you don't buy into my claim that this super bowl is fixed infact i believe all sb's have been scripted in some way. Theres no way i can see Eli Manning holding the lombardi trophy on super sunday after the dust settles,Eli is too young and not ready for this stage. But its my hope that Eli gives a good showing for himself because the new york press will be out to crucifie him like jesus on the cross if he doesn't. My pick Patroits-31 Giants-24

Here was my response to a post about the pats and cheating from SSS!

What i already think and thats the fact in my heart this team, dynasty is a creation of the NFL aided by the United Stats goverement after the 911 attacks. My guess this was done to help lift the nation out of its depression following the attacks. Its my feeling following the pats win over the rams in feb 2002 the league got together and decided the patriots would be the first dynasty of the 2000's. What better way i ask you to make all of us feel like patriots even the pats owner said something very close to that effect after winning their first super bowl in 2002. As far as i'm concered the New England Patriots are the greatest fraud ever commited against the sports veiwing public!

I just can't imagine the league turning to Mr. Personality otherwise known as Bill Belichick to spearhead this feel good PR campaign.

I also don't see why the NFL would want the Pats to cruise to 18-0 and then suddenly make them lose. Why not go ahead and let the Jaguars beat them?

This conspiracy theory like 99% of all others would be way too complex to carry out. You would have too many people involved for it ever to remain secret.

An NFL conspiracy involving the Pats throwing the Super Bowl? Welcome to the dumbest thing I have ever read on the internet.
