If Bob Stoops is actually in play then I would much rather have him that Gruden. He is a proven HC at the FBS level and a proven recruiter, 2 things Gruden is not, and has ties to the SEC having been SOS's DC at UF. But I don't really think he is in play. I assume that since Stoop's agent floated his name he is simply trying to get Stoops a pay raise.

Can someone tell me exactly when the first mention of Stoops as a realistic consideration occurred?

And if anyone watched the last 6:30 of the OU-OkSt game, jesus. Stoops was in total control, even the announcers were scared about the clock, but he scores a TD with :04 left after a 17 play drive ... are you kidding me? And btw, the Cowboy defense was absolutely gassed; they had no chance in overtime.

Read the article.... now I've got a question.... on VN last week, there was a post that generated a lot of feedback about someone who works at a Knoxville Cadillac Dealer who handles cars for UT saying an Escalade had been ordered up to go to the airport on yesterday to pick up a VIP rumored to have something to do with the FB program.... did that happen and if so, does anyone know if that was a potential coaching candidate? Just wondering..... Some thought it was for Mr. R.A., but he was honored Saturday so we know it wasn't him. BTW, if this should be a new thread.... sorry.... Thanks VN!:detective::detective:

and I thought they were going to take a picture of who picked it up

Anything you hear is conjecture at this point in time. The reporters have to write about something and they try to headline anything they think is of interest. All we hear are rumors and they get bigger and more ridiculous as they are spread.

Just relax. We will know soon. I had rather wait and get a good coach than hurry into a hire just because fans "want to know".

^^^^^^^^^This. :salute:Gruden would come in with a flash, get some good recruits and then could fizzle next year like letting air out of balloon.

Stupid article. It should have read I, myself, believe Tennessee is not worthy and can not hire a big name coach. I would rather see a positive article, Tennessee has a good chance of landing a big time coach, and it is a real possibility. He sounds defeated.

Probably because John wrote it.

John Adams is a tool. He knows no more than we do at this stage. Stoops announced today that he is happy at Oklahoma. I feel like these guys are being asked to play down the Gruden thing or put up smokescreens. Right now, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. There could be a good reason for this. Ever thought that maybe Gruden has to work out his exit strategy from ESPN? If I hear Al Golden's name again, I will throw up. This guy is an idiot. Stoops is out. Hamilton completely rejected the idea of Sumlin, Strong and others before. The only real big name option is either Tom O'Brien or Jon Gruden. Don't think for a second that Tom O'brien is a bad coach. Not one person has even mentioned this guy. This thing about what Chris Lowe said...Sec and chancellors have stated Petrino can't coach in the SEC. Can someone please tell me when a conference and/or chancellors started having confirmation hearings on coaching hires? Chris Lowe is one I wouldn't pee on if he was on fire. Anyone who worked under David Climer can't have any integrity.

Very accurate characterization of Adams' innermost thought processes, based on everything he has ever written about our program. I believe it must cause the man intense physical pain to say anything positive about Tennessee. Of course, being a LSU grad could contribute to that.
