GOP-controlled states

Temp services do most of the hiring in my area. IMO, the temp services are hurting the working class.

I think it depends on the type of temp service. My first corp job was through Experian. They hired for Nationwide's financial call center. I would not have gotten on to Nationwide any other way but was able to do so through them. I then was able to meet a manager there who hired me on directly.

I think places like Experian are great but other temp places I can see your point.

Texas requires a 750 ONE TIME fee to do business in their state.

PA requires 250 annual fee plus they require me to carry a 50,000 dollar bond and pay to have my business named in a newspaper. The total cost is roughly 3,000 per year to just operate there.

Compare 35,000 over a 10 year period to 750 dollars and you quickly see why certain states have more businesses.

If you were only doing business in one state and had a 10 year loan to get it off the ground which of these two states would you start scratch in?

This is the result of being a heavily unionized, D controlled state for so many years. And it is even worse at the local level since we are a commonwealth. In one township you are required to get annual sewer inspections at $400 per year, but cross the street and you don't need one ever. In the city you need a master plumber to change a wax ring on your toilet, but a handyman can rewire your house. My point is a small business has to have a person on staff just to track the rules from street to street. Consequently, small businesses are dying and only the bigger companies are able to survive.

Most of the corporations are moving toward corp employees doing core functions only and contingents for everything else. All maintenance, security, custodial, food, etc are being out sourced to either specialty companies such as Johnson Controls or temp agencies. This, in my view, is their way around unionizing.
