GOP hypocrisy at it's best

How can anybody take you seriously if you believe Bill O'Reilly speaks for all of the GOP much less all of America.

This just in. O'Reilly is still a douchebag. Film at 8:00 and 11:00.

I'm assuming you're talking about some legitimate independents and not trying to pass yourself off as anything remotely akin to one.

Just for fun, let us make her daughter an issue. So tell me, what is the issue with her?

And to go along with GA, BO'R is a complete waste of air.

Not really a GOP issue -- it's a political issue. I'm sure we could dig up some same quotes for the Dems. That being said, from the comments I'm not really sure you all actually watched it as it seems you only read the opening paragraph the referenced Bill o'Reilly.

To itemize and discuss:

1) Karl Rove stated Palin's experience as mayor was a positive. Previously, he stated Tim Kaines experience as mayor of Richmond meant Obama was picking someone that really wasn't experienced enough to run the country. He went so far as to call Richmond (200,000) not a big city.

2) O'Reilly -- you get the gist. Called the Spears pinheads for letting their daughter get pregnant and it's all their fault. Spoke that Palin's daughter's pregnancy is one between the family and should be taken care of in the home.

3) Dick Morris - on the questioning to Palin: "a man would never have to go through this line of questioning, it's sexist". In reference to Hillary: "she shouldn't complain based on gender"...."she complains the big boys are picking on her, what about the big boys in China, Russia, and Middle East"....and my favorite "whenever Hillary gets under fire, she retreats under the apron spring" -- cause that's not sexist.

4) Nancy Pfotenhauer - "HIllary should not be playing the gender card, it's not what we want in a candidate"...."she's playing a victim card". With regards to Palin: "attacks are disrespectful as a woman"..."why are they so quick to belittle the accomplishments of women"....

5) In defense of Palin -- they used a clip of her that I didn't think fit well. I don't think I've heard Palin whine so this clip didn't work and actually proved the point of the segment wrong.

I got the point - the same thing happens every night on the news any time a partisan is asked for their opinion.

My problem with the Daily Show is they focus almost exclusively on these type statements by one side. There is a treasure trove of comedic material out there from the Dems if they would only bother to use it.

I agree. Although I will say that one of the funniest bits I've ever seen was a clip where Terry McAuliffe and Chris Matthews were sniping back and forth and Stewart stopped the tape and declared a "West Virginia Douche-Off".

A real double-standard with Republicans on Palin! It was okay to go after Hillary (I'm not a fan) but the same folks cried foul when the Democrats go after Palin for many of the same issues. It's politics, it's dirty business to start with and if Palin can't take the heat, she should not have been picked. I am not an elephant but I do think McCain should have selected one of the other governors.

One, where has Palin shown she can't take the heat?

Two, have you not been watching this the past couple of days? What has happened in the time since Palin was picked that says this was even remotely close to just a decent pick? Again, somebody name me another pick that would have gotten 40 million people to the TV set for a VP speech.

I would actually argue that the viewership points to the unknown factor -- not the support. I know many Dems (that have no intention of voting Repub) that watched this over the DNC. Most everyone with some level of political awareness realizes these conventions are nothing more than a cheerleader session. The only reason to watch is if you actually have no idea about someone/something -- in this case -- Palin.

Is this on YouTube? If anyone can find the clip, please post.

It does not matter which one it points to. You have to get people to see your product before you have a chance of them buying it.

Once again, tell me the other choice McCain could have made that gets him that number. No one.

I'm certainly not disagreeing with you -- but do you really think people base their decisions on candidates after viewing the DNC or RNC? I guess my belief is the conventions are typically a waste of time that result in lots of cheerleading with little substance.

And you are right, no one would have garnered that much viewership -- but that doesn't mean it swayed votes and it also runs the risk of the opposite. But if the goal of choosing the VP was to get people to watch -- that goal was certainly achieved and the best candidate was chosen. I'm just not sure what that has to do with actually performing the duties of being a VP.

If this were about choosing people that were most qualified to perform the tasks ahead, Obama would have never sniffed the D nomination.

Also, the R convention was heading for being worse than a waste of time. It was headed for irrelevance. If Palin is not picked, I'm not sure McCain gets 25 million to watch his speech.

Being an "unknown" and being "qualified" are two different characteristics in my book. Because Obama is known doesn't make him qualified and vice versa. However, just because Palin brought huge viewership doesn't make her qualified.

Agreed on the second point.

It most certainly is two different characteristics. Obama is very known and not even close to being the most qualified.

Maybe you all can find some clips to post from 1/2 hour comedy hour. Oh that's right that show sucked so bad it did not make it a month on the air.:eek:lol:
