Got 30 billion for a good cause?

My gripe is spending taxpayer money on fighting the "in" disease or whatever other disease. Doesn't necessarily tie into immigration except for the type of people that think his immigration philosophies suck probably think this sucks as well.

yep, that 30 billion could have meant additional tax cuts.

or,

15 B2 Stealth bombers.

W could have promised 1 trillion dollars to fighting all manner of maladies facing Africa and it either wouldn't be enough (the "America is Selfish" crowd) or it would be a ridiculous expenditure of tax payer dollars on a lost cause (sort of like bridges to nowhere).

One of the shining moments in the previous presidential race was when Bush touted spending 50 billion on AIDS relief in Africa and Kerry sitting right next to him, upped him by saying he would spend 80 billion on AIDS relief in Africa. I almost threw my TV out of the house. The morons that run for office these days.

The most fiscally irresponsible President in the history of our country.

By the way, this is a preventable disease.

Saving lives = fiscally irresponsible? Some people just can't see through the hatred.

The program pays for anti-retroviral treatment in the worst-hit countries, funds drugs for patients in the developing world and delivers medicine to pregnant women to prevent infections to newborns.

Looks like the money is going to prevention.

Yes. Give me access to your financial accounts and I will spread your money out to worthy charities. Financially responsible enough for you? "Hatred"? Hatred of what?

You would be very disappointed with my accounts. I give a good amount anyway. My donations affect my pockets more than $30bil does the US govt.

By hatred I meant of Bush. People will bash him for doing anything. People claim we haven't done enough in Africa and then whine when we do something. When does it end? I believe it could be done better thru private orgs but it's a start. Should we just bury our heads in the sand and pretend it's not happening? I would much rather see my taxes go to someone who might benefit than some welfare handout.

I would rather my taxes go to neither. If people want to solve issues such as this it should be done privately.

Let me have the funds back that are misspent lining the pockets of Haliburton and the rest of the defense contracting sycophants, and I'll gladly donate it. That would be doing it privately. One could also simply refund Americans the money spent on idiocy like faith based initiatives and incompetent AUSAs, who got their law degrees from a printing press at Pat Robertson's law school, that would allow for more charity.

Don't you realize? The purpose of us paying taxes is to allow the Bush Administration more money to throw at Haliburton, Schlumerger, BAE, Boeing and Bell Helicopter.

Do you borrow money to give to your charities?

Bush has spent every tax dollar collected since he's been in office not to mention most of our kids. The debt he's saddling the next generation and ours is a disgrace.

I would be more than happy for you to get back any portion of what you have paid. And the money spent on faith based initiatives you can have as well. These are just as misspent as any dollar going to AIDS in Africa or any other disease in any other country.

Somebody should have told Reagan that when he was in office. Maybe he wouldn't have given the topic the cold shoulder.

I agree. We should also cut out federal research funding for lung cancer and heart disease, since those are often caused by preventable, purely personal factors.

How about we start teaching them abstinence, since that would pretty much kill the HIV virus. Abstinence is the only cure right now and instead of spending 30 billion dollars on a virus their is no cure for, spend it building a freaking fence on our Mexican border. Shoot India now has the largest HIV population, maybe we should help them. Even if we give them the money, your not going to stop the MASSIVE amounts of rape cases that happen there which is what is spreading the virus. Maybe they should start killing the rapists that do this within 24 hours after being arrested and the rapes WOULD go down.

Agree 100%. In fact we should cut all government funding for any diseases short of some type of epidemic.

This country spends more money on HIV research then on cancer and heart disease combined. On a disease that the majority of people infected could have avoided if they had simply used a condom and not shared drug needles. How many people could have avoided cancer or heart disease that easily?
