Got an interesting letter in the mail today...

by the way the timing of the letter around Memorial day is a blatantly obvious pandering attempt. But, otoh if I were going to find a group to give some money to it would definitely be veterans. I sound kind of bi -polar today.

Exactly. You give out a "stimulus" (good pr) to veterans (good pr) so that you look like a friend of veterans and the average joe.

What you're doing, really, is propping up the Postal Service with unnecessary letters and what amounts to a token "stimulus." Then you take taxes out of the stimulus. Now, no one saw this money built into the stimulus package, so what Obama can do is say "Look how much higher our IRS returns are! We brought in $x.xx more than last year, so we can spend more and not operate in a deficit.

I wouldn't put it past him that he's using the deficit this year to make next year look like some sort of surplus, thus giving false hope to our economic situation, especially once you add it to the taxes paid on all the other money we didn't have that they gave away.

Aren't tax receipts a common indicator of our economy?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. You give away money we don't have so that when we pay 2009 taxes, it looks like we're doing better, and Obama gets more play money to throw around, all the while securing more votes.

have you seen the latest fed tax return number? we're down 44% from last year. that is pretty bad.

now how will the gov get the money back? oh yeah, higher taxes.

The Postal Service doesn't make any money from mail, letters or parcels. They make it from third class mail. Papa John's coupons, fliers, advertisements for deck enclosures. Last I heard, they lose money on delievering standard letters.

Best I can tell, the postal service does nothing but lose money at every turn.

Not me. Still waiting. Maybe they cross-referenced my political background in the DHS database and lost mine.

Military service, gun owner, etc. All the various categories the DHS report said were dangerous.
