Gotta give a little love to Recruit Bryce Petty as well

i like the nunes pickup, but seriously we were the only bcs school that offered him. I'm not kidding, career backup. Nobody was recruiting him. rexvol's right this didn't fire me up at all either. I think we could have had a mobile qb like jordan reed who clawson could use just to change the pace, could make an impact, but instead we wasted a scholarship on Petty. No offense to the kid but I'm sorry i think this was a bad pickup. Him and JerQuari Scholfield that nobody heard of except Fulmer when he came to a camp. That's was a waste also. Other than that i really like our recruiting class.

I bet you were the same person who said Foster will a career backup and Jason Hall would too.

Exactly, the same types who think anything less than a 4 star recruit , the same recruits who were analyzed when they were 16/17 year old high school juniors, are benchwarmers , just brilliant analysis. I trust the coaches analysis, not someone who reads threads off the internet who has no idea about a players ability and how he will fit into a college system.

Actually i thought Foster had a good chance to start. Didn't think he had enough speed to play, but he obviously did. Now, he wouldn't be starting if coker laid off the drugs. Jason Hall was before my time in recruiting i didn't know how many stars he was. What i'm saying is name the last 3* qb that was great in the sec (not including vandy and kentuck and all the cellar dwellers)

We all know the coaches never make a mistake.

Right, just like the ridiculously negative people in here never make a mistake either. Have a little faith. UT has got some great play out of 3*s in the past, heck even 2*s

Using the Big 12 as a good example.....Colt McCoy, Chase Daniel & Todd Reesing all had only 3 stars.

You can add Sam Bradford to the QB 3 star list above.

Pretty good group of QB's....All 4 are in the top 10 QB ratings per Rivals.
College Football Power Rankings

1 Tim Tebow QB Florida
2 Pat White QB West Virginia
3 Chase Daniel QB Missouri
4 Graham Harrell QB Texas Tech
5 Matthew Stafford QB Georgia
6 Todd Reesing QB Kansas
7 Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma
8 Cullen Harper QB Clemson
9 Jake Locker QB Washington
10 Colt McCoy QB Texas

Actually....6 of the 10 top rated QB's only had 3 stars entering college

Why did you automatically assume it was about his stars? For me it was about his only other offer being Gardner Webb.

I provided examples of good 3 star QB's in response to zjcvols post......."What i'm saying is name the last 3* qb that was great in the sec (not including vandy and kentuck and all the cellar dwellers)"....granted the 3* examples I provided aren't from the SEC.....but these are the current cream of the NCAA crop of QB's.

I don't really look at stars as much as I look at who else has offered. Remind me who else offered him? Look I'm not downing the guy, he may be the greatest qb since BJ Coleman, but his commit didn't exactly fire me up.
No way he's on Coleman's level... he's not from Chattanooga.

Hell Donte Stallworth wasn't even ranked coming out of HS.

Here's a statistic for you star lovers. 13 of the 31 first round picks in this past draft were 3* or less.

All this star talk has zero to do with the fact that petty will be a career clipboard carrier on the Hill. Just my prediction.

Yeah because we know that 6'6" 300 lb guys with quick feet grow on trees, right? And of course you sitting in front of your all seeing eye know more than professional coaches who compared Schofield to other more highly regarded players... passed on them... but offered Schofield, right?

Scholarships aren't plentiful enough to waste. There aren't even any UT ties for these guys. They showed up, made an impression, and got an offer.

Someone mentioned Colt McCoy. He was a 3* who beat out Jevan Sneed a higher rated player... and sent him packing off to Ole Miss.

How many times have you seen him play to make such an informed prediction?

it's true, according LWS it is. He was unranked WR coming out of high school.

I could be wrong but I think that may be a typo. I remember Stallworth's recruitment and I'm pretty sure he was very highly regarded coming out of California.
