if it weren't for CCM's tenure, our fanbase wouldn't have been so apathetic that most of them missed this close loss.

Huh?

Not sure what you're trying to say, but I'm not really giving credit to CCM for anything other than a lack-luster season.

I think this is supposed to be sarcasm, but is a very poor effort at it and mostly non-sensical, which is not uncommon on this board.

His defense is great. Offense, not so much.
I hear that his assistants suck, and hearing this makes me believe that he is a few offensive minded assistants away from being a good coach.

He also has to show some emotion, I think it really hurt us late in the game...

Most of the people in this thread didn't understand my post...

but bnhunt understood it was sarcasm, so I got that going for me, which is nice.

I will give him a ton of credit for getting this team to play its best ball of the year at the end.

Not his fault the team went cold the last 8 minutes today.

Should have won the game. Oh well. We will be a tough out in the dance.

The real problem this team has is no ball handling guard that can score and run the offense with any consistency!!

Blame CCM for not developing them if you like.

They played their hearts out today and gave it all they could. If Barton was a top notch point guard they would have likely won the game.

Thompson could have possibly been the answer, and I don't mean today, I mean if he had been given the point guard position from the beginning of the season.

Agree with the the first part of your post. But we should have seen a team with this sense of urgency earlier this year. Also if we had a better offensive mind at the helm we win today. The guys were bought in but lackin an effective gameplan the second half.

I don't want to take away from CCM the effort the effort this team has shown the last 4 but his clipboard was useless the second half today.

Where was he the previous 20 or so games? Not to mention the last two years?

I'm still not convinced we are in as I have been before and didn't see our name called!

The problem that we have with Thompson is - a. his 3 pt shooting is abysmal. and b. he can't cover my mom who would drive right past him. He is a nice little player and he understands his primary role is to protect and distribute the basketball but .... see a. and b. above.

He is young tho. And he is not used to some of the basics when it comes to being a pg. I do think he can be a heck of a 2 next yr. And his bball instincts are ahead of his overall game right now. Not that u r but its too early to judge him just yet.imo

Also not strong enough

All that said, it can be fixed

We scored 14 points in the second half. Think about that a while.

Watch the highlights on UTSports and you get a stark reality of the collapse from @ the 17min - 2min in the second 1/2. Ouch. We disappeared for too long today. Besides that 15min stretch, we've had a fabulous 5-6 game run. If I were a 5 seed, I would NOT want to face us in the first round.

I hope we get em' again in a 80s style Villanova / Georgetown rerun. That was about as crazy of an idea at the time.

Good point. Lots of folks were talking about NOT laying an egg early in the season like last year, and sure enough we did it again and are on the bubble.I think we'l be in, but we should be a 6 seed at least, not an 11ish.

Then again in two weeks if the season is still alive, UTEP, A&M, and my "seed" opinion will be distant memories.

The last part X 1000. Winning cures all.

This is damn funny! If CCM got a technical there for backing his player, then you and all the other reds on here would be all over him for costing us the game and wondering how he could get a T in that situation. Not a CCM supporter per se, but that poor guy is in a no-win situation with a lot of our fan base.

CCM hasn't stood up for his players this year. He's had several opportunities. When jordy got T'd up after the dunk against Wichita. When josh got crushed a few games back. Saturday was just another example of refs jobbing UT because we have a coach with no spine.

I give credit to the kids fighting to the finish and having to play without a top-tier coach.
GO VOLS!
