Everyone should pay their fair share. That seems something so self evidently true its logic a child can understand.
BUT the one thing no one ever really explains:
What is fair and who decides what is and what isn't?
In 2021, 57% of US households paid no federal income taxes. I wonder which party those 57% mostly voted for.
Actually that is easy. As long as the same tax rules are applied to EVERY citizen, everyone shall pay what they 'owe' with respect to those rules. The rules should be the same for everyone. Isn't it the left that is always crowing about equal outcomes? The current progressive tax code is inherently unfair. But it is by design to do a couple of things. One is to always have a lever with which the government can continue to divide average Americans. Second is to ensure that the poorest of us will always buy into the lie that the government gives a flying **** about them, but because they are stupid enough to believe that, it makes the first thing that much easier. If they wanted 'fairness' they would institute a flat tax based on a percentage of ALL income received. And the added thing should be that if you do not pay into the system, you do not get to vote on how things that you do not contribute to are implemented.Everyone should pay their fair share. That seems something so self evidently true its logic a child can understand.
