After talking to some basketball people in the state of Alabama, it appears the Tide fan base is clamoring for the hiring of one Robert Montgomery Knight.

Do you really see that happening? I don't.

Wouldn't that be something. Saban and Knight at the same university. That's big-time.

I guess this is as good a place as any for me to give my first unsolicited candidate list of the year. Here you go, in no particular order, Mal Moore:

Tony Barbee
Bob Marlin
Cliff Warren
Larry Eustachy
Oliver Purnell

I hear a lot of rumors about Purnell to Maryland.

I'd be surprised to see a guy move within the ACC. NC State caught hell from its peers for hiring Tom O'Brien away from BC in football.

based on the way they finished the year out, I doubt they gave one flying poo what the other schools thought about it.

Really, they can't. It's a football school.

He looked like a deadman walking on TV against Kentucky. When UK pulled away at the end, you could see it on his face.
They have done better. CM Newton and Wimp Sanderson were both infinitely better than Gottfried.

That's true. But my point is that at Alabama, basketball is an afterthought.

I don't care what the Alabama press relations office says about Mark Gottfried "resigning", it's obvious that the man was fired. Mal Moore should be ashamed of promulgating such a big, fat Crimson lie. At least Tennessee has an AD who doesn't try to conceal the truth of coaching terminations. Yet another reason for UT to claim superiority over the U of A. Yay!
