Kickers have a hard life. They have one job, and one job only and they are usually either the hero or the goat (see Cade Foster at Bama). Kudos to MP for turning himself from goat to hero this year. Much respect for him.

I will admit that I was very rude to Palardy on this site over the last couple of seasons. It wasn't personal, it was about football (immaturity at its finest). Palardy did a complete 180 and I commend him for that! What an awesome year he had!! Best player on the team, by far!! He is deserving of the award. Hope he wins it. George Cafego would be very happy for him and his play this year! It is obvious that he was injured the last couple of seasons coupled with piss poor special teams coaching (I mean none). I often said that he must have HATED Dooley because some of the mishaps he had the last couple of years looked like he tried to do them. Lol. Hats off to Mr. Palardy!! Best of luck to you, young man!! VFL GBO!

Thank you, Michael! You were great as a Vol student athlete & have great things ahead in life. Some really unkind, immature VN postings did not deter you over the years. Thanks also to Butch Jones & his staff for helping reestablish your confidence.

You're welcome, Michael... lol

No, really, I am proud to call Palardy a Vol. His punting has been top notch this year. Almost 30 punts inside the 20 or something crazy like that.

We have had some great kickers/punters here at Punter U. over the years, and he is right up there on the list with his performance this year.

Hope he gets to play on Sundays.

Mike is pure class and raised right.,,,he was our best player!!!!!

Kid was pure class before he became a great player for us. Just remember this before criticizing some of these kids so badly. Palardy would've been thought of as a bum by some if Dooley were still here.

I don't have to hope this kid is successful in whatever he chooses to do in life because I know he will be based off his perseverance and character.

I Feel very guilty for the grief I posted about him. I could not have been more wrong!

Jeez, How many times did he flip the field for us this year?

Hope he gets a delivery from a Brinks Truck this spring!!!

Glad to see him really put it all together this year, and I have no doubt he will be drafted high for a kicker, since he can perform both duties extremely well. Very rare trait indeed.

Glad that everything ended up working out for him.

I can't believe that he is already finished with school.

Particularly classy when one remembers how much venom was spewed his way in prior years from posters on VN.

Great kid and I'm glad he's ours.

From the looks of it in the NFL, he could be a first round draft choice next year, as there appears to be a shortage of good kickers!!

Actually, Michael dropped 33 punts, more than half of his 63 punts, inside the opponents' 20 yard line. And who knows how many of those came to rest inside the 10 or even the 5-yard line? Three punts vs. Kentucky alone were downed on the Blue Bellies' 1, 1 and 3-yard lines (Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kentucky Wildcats - Drivechart - November 30, 2013 - ESPN). Palardy averaged 44.5 yds. per punt, with a long of 69 yards, had only 22 punts returned, and launched 19 punts more than 50 yards in length (UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics - Football). Whether or not he receives the honor, those are All-American numbers, pure and simple.

I am really happy young Mr. Palardy had an outstanding season, props to him as I've have seen momentous amounts of improvement. I for one have struggled for years trying to figure out how and why he was on scholarship. I am still trying to figure out how and why I routinely watch multiple high school kids on kickoffs routinely putting the football either deep into or through the back of end zones while young Palardy finally this year sometime does and sometime does not. That is a significant improvement from other years where it was a rarity to see a Vol kickoff come close to the end zone. Giving him credit his punting this year was simply outstanding and I am happy he is a VFL.

Thank you for everything you did Mr. Palardy. The kicking game was on point this year. I remember dreading the thought of going 3 and out and the only highlight was the fact that you buried the opponent deep in the backfield every time. In your words after SC "it means everything, honestly" to have had you as our kicker/punter the last 4 years. Hopefully one day I'll be able to meet you and shake your hand

We need to start the George Cafego Award and give it to the best kicker in the nation. And forget about some ole political Ray Guy award.

If fact, Mr. Parlardy could be the first recipient.

mpalardy1 VFL ! Can't remember anyone outside of Crompton taking the heat like Mike and then respond with this. Kid/Man is all Class. Take note VN... Players, Recruits, Parents, and some HS coaches read this Forum. Very Happy for M. Palardy !

Not many people know about Crompton getting saved during his senior season. It's a great story
