Locklear, a former Spring Valley High School football standout, is on pace to graduate this spring and will have one year of eligibility left. It is likely Locklear will use that year to transfer to the University of Tennessee. Sources also confirmed that he has a scholarship offer from Tennessee’s coaching staff.
The loss of Locklear carries some weight with the Thundering Herd offensive line as it loses a player who has 35 games of experience in a multitude of roles.

Even though many pieces remain from the 2018 offensive line, Locklear was expected to be firmly in the mix for a starting position this spring as the team looked to solidify its offensive line after the loss of offensive guard Jordan Dowrey to graduation.

Last season, Locklear appeared in all 13 games and made one start. During his 35 games with the Herd, Locklear’s versatility helped with depth as he had experience at the tackle and interior positions. Both of his starts were against Western Kentucky -- one in 2018 and one to end the 2016 season.

depth guy. He should be welcomed with open arms.

I agree here. No problem with this since it sounds like we will be relying on 2 freshman to man the tackle positions. As much as we hear about Tatum/Neihaus gaining weight it's pretty clear (to me at least) that the staff does not see them as SEC caliber starters at OT. A rotation of Morris, Wright, this guy, Tatum, Neihaus will hopefully be able to piece together a successful season.

Per John Brice to Jayson Swain on The Swain Event, Pruitt has told someone close to him just last week that he (Pruitt) thinks Niehaus is a next level player. So I’m assuming that the staff must think he is SEC caliber.

Good to hear and big if true. Hope we see it reflected on the field this fall because everything we have seen so far has pointed to depth rather than an impact player, JMO.

He is. Posters on here have ignored him, or had Tatum ahead of him. Niehaus has always been the better upside of the two. He had to overcome a serious leg injury of some type two years ago. His frame is bigger and base is wider for leverage than Tatum. Tough kid that played in a tough program in HS at Colerain.
