Hes never been in this situation before coaching against top talent week in and week out.

B with A potential. Guy is a winner. Big step up from Dooley. He has won where he has been which is more than what Kiffin or Dooley had on there resume.

D, dooley out coached him, everyone keeps saying he won in the big east... well the last time i looked we are in the SEC, and the big east is falling apart. he better surrond hiself with the best assistants of all time..

A= Gruden or Stoops type
B= A proven SEC winner
C= Any head coach with a winning record
D= Coordinator or HC with loosing record
F= Dooley

I think he is a C IMHO

The yawn at HC better be made up for with top notch assistants.

Dooley did NOT our coach him. Out 2011 Vols team was far more talented than his 2011 Cincy team. Swap the coaches for that game, and Dooley would have been crushed too.

I will give it a solid B. I would like for some of the malcontents on this forum to tell me who we should have hired from the AVAILABLE coaches. AVAILABLE coaches are the ones who can actually be hired, not just a name thrown out there. AVAILABLE coaches would be any coach who has actually been hired this season. These include Bielema, Mulzahn, Stoops(the coordinator), Dykes(La. Tech), Doeren ( No.Illinois), the guy at Kent State(?)

Remember also that Bielema had a previous connection with Long at Arkansas, and Mulzahn was Auburn's offensive coordinator. So these 2 are probably out. Which AVAILABLE coach should we have hired.

You're right...Brian Kelly coached in the Big East and he is doing terrible now. You can't judge the coach off of the league he coached in prior. I don't know any coaches that get HC jobs right away in the SEC. I think most come from another league. It might work out, it might not. You never know.

I'd like to point out it says grade the hire, not grade the coach. The coach is a B/C range, but the hire is a D.
