Grammys '14

Can I just say, and this goes for all of these awards shows, can we just drop all of the cheesy scripted dialogue that these presenters have to recite? It ALWAYS comes across sounding forced and it's never witty.

Why? I mean, what does that have to do with the Grammy's?

It doesn't really, but it occurred during Macklemore performing Same Love. Several couples were married - straight, gay and multiple ethnicities. I think Ryan Lewis' sister married her now husband during the performance. The whole thing went with the message of the song.

Not everyone will like it or agree, but I thought it was fantastic and moving.

I don't get why Norah didn't come out to sing with Billie Joe. They just released an album together covering the Everly Brothers.

lol, the crowd is leaving like it's a blowout in a football game. No one cares about this performance.

Taylor Swift is in the process of writing a break-up song about the Album of the Year award that she thought she had won.

Wow they cut the finale? I bet those guys are going to be ticked.

I'm really glad now Metallica didn't close, I'd be really ticked.

I don't understand it. It was kind of boring for a closing act, the names sound good, but it just didn't click. That said, they rushed the last two acts and it just made everything seem sloppy. It doesn't make that big of a difference if you're already over ten minutes to go five minutes longer.

The only country artist with multiple wins tonight 1) is a woman, 2) doesn't sing about tailgates and faux "moonshine," 3) isn't Taylor Swift.

Country radio programmers are crapping bricks.

look through all the serious song writing and critic awards in country music. Kacey Musgraves, Ashley Monroe, Jason Isbell and a bunch of others you never hear on the radio dominated.

I really enjoyed the Chicago performance.
Also, Dave Grohl is the single coolest guy in the history of rock music.

grammys are a joke. cutting QOTSA off? please. they make better music than 3/4 of the people there.

I'm not the biggest Foo Fighters fan int he world but he's about the only young(er) guy who seems to be carrying the torch for rock and roll. Much respect from me!

You will have to forgive me, but I didn't watch the Grammys or for that matter even know they were on. What caused the performances to get cut short?
Were they just getting greedy and running the sponsors ads as opposed to the music?

I think it was mainly the show ran way too long. It was almost 4 hours, and I'm guessing their absolute latest they were allowed to run was til midnight ET. By the time they took the stage, there was only maybe 10 minutes left of the show, but you have to factor in about 2 minutes of credits, sponsor shout-outs, etc.

So basically they put them on stage with maybe 5 minutes of actual air time to play what is traditionally a pretty long closing number. Plus how they did it, cutting away to a crowd shot (which showed they were ushering people out too) didn't help.

While I think the Grammys are now silly and a shell of what they used to be, being given the closing act is still considered a pretty big deal, and to then have it hardly shown, I can see why he's upset.

How in the hell did Daft Punk win album of the year? Their fame should have began and ended with that horrible song Around the World.
