Does anyone think that Gran might be leaving due to heat he caught after Kiffin's Pahokee remarks? It has been rumored for a while that Gran is not happy in Knoxville.

I know that Gran was temporarily shut out of Pahokee earlier this year and that can't have made him happy. The man has made his reputation recruiting S. Fla and Kiffin is very unpopular down there.

I can't think of many logical reasons why Gran would make a lateral move to FSU unless he is just tired of answering criticisms about his association with CLK. I also can't understand why CLK wouldn't try to make a counter offer to keep Gran unless it was made clear that Gran would refuse it.

Thoughts?

Absolutely not. Besides, CLK said nothing but the truth about Pahokee.

Chances are that it is not a lateral move. It would not surprise me if he was hired as a recruiting coordinator.

Absolutely man you nailed it! People make career changing decisions and uproot their families over trivial bs like this all the time.

If he's gone he's gone. I like CEG as much as anyone but if he don't want to be here for whatever reason. So be it. We'll move on and survive. Who wants someone who wants to be somewhere else?

The man's reputation in the area where he is considered a recruiting master is hardly trivial. CEG has built a reputation on being a "good guy" and comments by Kiffin and Nuke's actions don't reflect very well on that image.

All of this is speculation and me just thinking out loud as to why he might possibly leave. Then again, he could stay.

The only reason Gran would leave for FSU is money and one of those "coach in waiting" promises. If Fisher promised him his next move would be to OC, I don't see why he wouldn't take it.

I've heard Kiffin has mended everything in south Florida and has gained a lot of respect down there.

I think it boils down to Gran wanting to be closer to his family (less travel time from S Fla to Tallahassee) and getting a raise.

I'm sure if he was unhappy with the staff he'd flee to where there was recently a fist fight between coaches.

Because CLK is on better footing than Fisher, his job ain't solid.

I doubt it would matter to him to save an hour on flying. Tally is 7 hours away from Gran's bread and butter recruiting area.

Well thought out, excellent points.

Gran is a very good coach and an even better man. I hope we keep him. If he does leave, suspect it's for the salary increase--which is rumored to be significiant...almost double.

Stupid thread. If Eddie Gran leaves it will be for $$$ & a better opportunity. That's pretty basic.
