Grant Hill's Response To Fab 5.

And Grant Hill said "Allow me to retort".

Nice article

Normally I don't like articles talking about race. Mainly because a lot of them are written by younger people who have no idea what it was like growing up during that time period. They read a couple of books and like to pretend they endured the same treatment. Grant Hill's response is definitely a feel good story. I always enjoy hearing about struggling families that are able to better themselves. They don't make excuses, they just do what it takes to come out on top. It's really refreshing.... It makes me sick to my stomach when people like Jesse Jackson view Lebron as a slave or Adrian Peterson refers to himself as a slave. Good for Grant Hill, one of the most talented players ever. Too bad guys like him and Griffey got bit by the injury bug. Could probably add Vince Cater to that list. Tracy McGrady... getting off topic. :)

something ironic about a guy being called an uncle tom and responding in the new york times editorial section.

His comments about common sense are refreshing. Thought there weren't many of us left.

In Rose's defense, his comments were his feelings as a college freshman.

However, Hill knocked this one out of the park.

That was a classy response. I would have expected nothing less from Grant Hill. He is a class act.

That's what I took it as. Rose was just telling the truth about how he felt at that time, as an 18 year old. With that said, it's unfortunate that those coming from successful black families are thought of as "Uncle Toms" because of it. I'm sure that those who look at guys like Hill that way feel the same about the President, right?

Whitlock flat stomped Rose's ass here. Of course the show was overdone, but it had to be.

That's because Whitlock is exactly the kind of guy Rose assumed Grant Hill was. He's the Alan Keyes of sports. Mr. Step 'n Fetch.

Whitlock sucks, but his analysis of the different recruits that a guy like K wants vs those willing to play for a "coach" like Fischer was spot on. He tangentially pulled in RMK and that gulf is even wider.

It's just another column in Whitlock's long running jihad against hip hop culture. Also, K and Knight both did everything in their power to sign Chris Webber.

wonder if rose feels kinda dumb after reading that lol he should

Judging from his ignorant comments I'd be surprised if he could fully appreciate the intelligence of Hill's response.

That's what kind of struck me as odd about those original comments. It isn't like those coaches don't try and recruit top talent wherever they find it.

Yes on Webber, but he is definitely not like the other three and was flat out the best player.
