Considering the turmoil and distractions that have occurred within the program and current players over the past few years, great victory.

I really don't think we will play Thursday considering the NCAA Tourney games will be going on that night. Hopefully we will play Sunday and give Maymon more time to rest his Knee.

I do think the team responded well and took care of business, all while getting some backups good playing time... but i can't help but wonder,

We played a lot of backups, but teams driving to the basket and making points in the paint along with being out hustled on defensive rebounds are a cause for concern. I hope Kenny Hall can get back soon to get some minutes. I don't know if he is in game shape after missing games and practice. CCM might keep him out for the rest of the season. Who knows?

One thing I've learned with this team is don't judge/assume anything.

Games I thought were W's we lost and games like at Florida without stokes I thought were L's yet we won.

This is a tough team to figure out.

Nice win!!! We beat a conference champion with over 20 wins!

No - not really. They (SS) played hard but kind of a Carson Newman like team. In fact, I believe that they lost by 2 to UTC.

Some of their losses to real teams were by 30 or 40 points.

Thought we played down to the comp and several Vols were not really into it.

Heard Maymon got his knee scoped, did anyone else hear that?

No way. Arthroscopy has a recovery time of weeks for this kind of heavy activity. You can't just drive camera ports into the interior of someone's knee and them be day to day. It's a week's recovery just for an office job.

Now fluoroscopy (which is like an x-ray, but in real time, showing motion), is a possibility because it has no recovery time. That's not what people mean when they say "scoped" though.

Likely he got an MRI if anything. Negative for structural damage...positive for inflammation and bruising.

Supposedly he was in pain verse ole miss and Vanderbilt but played through it.

Maybe CCM thought this would be an ok game to rest him???

He did that with stokes verse south Carolina was it? Said he could have Played...

Just in case you don't remember this from your med school lectures (I don't remember seeing you there that day), I'll provide scientific evidence that you can't argue.

Return to Activity After Knee Arthroscopy 10.1016/j.arthro.2007.07.026 : Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic & Related Surgery | ScienceDirect.com

"By 2 weeks postoperatively, only 74% described knee-related activity restriction, a significant difference (P = .039); this improved to 38% at 4 weeks and was only 4% at 20 weeks. In addition, 82% returned to light activity such as walking, housework, or yard work after 1 week, with 94% after 2 weeks and 100% after 4 weeks."

That means that 75% of patients were restricted in activity 2 weeks out, and this activity is no doubt not nearly as strenuous as playing division 1 basketball.

The Cleveland clinic says return to office work a week out and active lifestyle somewhere between 1 and 2 months.

Knee Arthroscopy

Most people don't even get a post-op visit to evaluate their return to more strenuous activity until 2 weeks after the procedure.

3. One final note from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (Knee Arthroscopy - OrthoInfo - AAOS). Although this one seems to be very conservative timeline-wise.

"Unless you have had a ligament reconstruction, you should be able to return to most physical activities after 6 to 8 weeks, or sometimes much sooner. Higher impact activities may need to be avoided for a longer time. You will need to talk with your doctor before returning to intense physical activities.

If your job involves heavy work, it may be longer before you can return to your job. Discuss when you can safely return to work with your doctor."

i was advised 6 weeks by my surgeon. My work involved climbing, kneeling, lots of walking, etc. I felt like I could have returned after 6 weeks, but held out 8 weeks. Haven t had a problem with it for 8 years since .
