Great, gutsy win today. That said, Jabari Smith…

He's an entitled punk. Gonna get his mouth closed the hard way in the NBA.

I love comments like these. Y’all don’t have a damn clue what you’re talking about. You’re calling someone entitled for talking smack on a BASKETBALL court. Every player does it. No matter the level. Please

Based on what? Apparently he is entitled to his damn buckets.

Check out the two plays in a row where Uros got him talking. The first the refs graciously called his throwing the ball at Uros an illegal entry pass though he was never established OOB instead of a tech, but we got the ball, next time down Uros got a foul and he got the tech mouthing again. Certainly puts the concept into play.

Actually, not sure if you were at the game last night. Jabari Smith was in Zakai’s face a couple of times after made baskets. Literally running up the court and posturing on top of ZZ. He also did it to a couple of other guys, too. Nowhere was there a Vol that did anything remotely close to what Smith was doing. There is a big difference in having a few words with an opponent versus the behavior that both Smith and KD Johnson displayed. Kessler doesn’t talk smack. He just plays hard.

In college I feel like they were similar

Could be, how you handle a pure one and done is very challenging, the year Barnes had Durant, Texas finished third in the Big 12, lost to Tennessee, made a second round early exit in the NCAA tournament, with two other McDonald's All American guards out front yet Durant has gone on to future NBA Hall of Fame status, a league MVP, championship rings and by most accounts, a good guy that realizes his roles, responsibilities and attributes of his success on the basketball court.

Where Auburn finishes up this year is still an unknown, but Smith will be a first round lottery pick and the rest of the story will be written by him, not Pearl.

Again, acting like this doesn’t happen on every court is ignorant. Zakai does stuff every game to try and get under the skin of a player. Calling a player entitled for showing emotion and being a little over the top in a game that intense. Kessler doesn’t talk smack? Okay and?

You can say what you want to say. Those were my observations from being at the game last night.

I thought he acted like a little punk ass bitch multiple times yesterday. Was surprised how immature he was. The league will force him to grow real quick.

Smith and Kessler are both from metro Atlanta, southwest of the city, both just up 85 from Auburn, with Tech and Georgia not very competitive, Auburn is the closest major hoop program to Newnan and Fayettville, Georgia. An easy sell for Pearl as he continues to pull talent out of metro Atlanta. Nobody thinks either will be back next year.
Pearl has always liked recruiting that area. He has done pretty well with the Atlanta AAU circuit.
GBO!!

Agree. That falls on the selfish guards. If Auburn is a one seed or 2 seed, they will disappoint, because their guards are selfish and suck. Feed Smith and Kessler and they dominate, but they won't, because it's all about Johnson and Green
I was speaking with a knowledgeable big time Auburn guy just before the game. He outlined almost exactly how the game would go and Vols would win by a couple of baskets. His whole premises for his opinion was our guards were so much further advanced and understood the game as opposed to theirs. He said Auburn guards this year will keep the team from accomplishing too much with two of the best players they’ve had in years. He was spot on for sure!

When your coaching staff allows you to go out or game and dance on the home teams logo, then you can see where all the issues originate from.

There is a lot more to the Durant year at Texas. When people throw out how Barnes underachieved that year, they fail to realize that 4 of their top 5 scorers were freshmen. Their 6th guy only averaged 4 points per game. AJ Abrams, who was the only non-freshman, was a sophomore and only averaged 6.4 points the year before. Augustin and Damion James were top 30 recruits but not too 10. Durant was also the tallest starter at 6’9.” They played a 3 guard lineup.

So, it would essentially be like Jabari Smith (Durant) with 3 other freshmen and a sophomore on the floor with him being the tallest (no Kessler). I would venture to guess Bruce would have several more losses.

Oh yea, Texas won 31 games, won the conference, and went to the Elite Eight the year after Durant.

The trash talking doesn’t really concern me about Smith. Trash talk is part of the modern game and while I don’t like it, I get it. However, throwing the ball at Uros during the course of play was an extremely immature move and not the type of behavior that you like to see from a potential # 1 NBA pick.

KD averaged 25 and 11 and was elite.
Barnes’ guards actually gave Durant the ball because Barnes’ teams are unselfish. Again from what I remember.

Green (and other guards) on Auburn often doesn’t even try getting it to Smith or Kessler for that matter. I don’t know why but Auburn’s guards haven’t figured out that them not sharing the ball is the issue

He is projected to possibly be the top pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Goodbye and Good Luck. Don't need to be seeing him every season. That last 3 showed not only his immense physical talent, but his basketball acumen. I don't watch the NBA, but from what I have seen, his game fits perfectly and he should rapidly become an impact player.
