Nobody wanted to listen to me at the beginning of the season. But awww naw throw it throw it throw it!! One day people will listen to me on here!!

Yup. The top 2 passing offenses in the SEC are a combined 8-12. The only way you win in this league is lining up and trucking your way to the endzone.

For those of you who treasure hard-nosed smashmouth football, I cannot remember a more dominant performance against a strong SEC opponent than the '89 team against Auburn. The final scoreboard tallied a 21-14 victory, but it was not indicative of how thoroughly we whipped Auburn that day as we ran for about 350 yds. in the rain, including a 79-yd. touchdown by Reggie Cobb. For the first half broadcast, see 1989 Tennessee 21 Auburn 14 (1st Half) - YouTube.

For the 2nd half broadcast, see 1989 Tennessee 21 Auburn 14 (2nd Half) - YouTube.

We're scoring 31 ppg in the SEC. I don't think running the football would improve upon that or fix our defensive problems. It may keep the D off the field a little longer, but it wouldn't matter, teams can score on it at will. We have to throw to stay in games.

Tony Robinson's meteoric career came to a tragic end in the '85 Alabama game, which we won 16-14. To this day, I believe that we would have won that game comfortably, say 20-7, had Tony not shredded his knee. For the first half broadcast, see 1985 Tony Robinson and Vols Beat Bama in Birmingham (1st Half) - YouTube.

For the 2nd half broadcast, see 1985 Tony Robinson and Vols Beat Bama in Birmingham (2nd Half) - YouTube . Dale Jones's miraculous interception at point-blank range occurs at about the 30:30 mark.

After the fiasco of Peyton being snubbed for the Heisman, many of us took particular delight in seeing Tennessee utterly annihilate Michigan in the '02 Citrus Bowl, 45-17. The '01 team beat a bevy of traditional powers that year, including Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame and Michigan. For highlights of this Bowl game, see 2001 Citrus Bowl (Tennessee Pummels Michigan 45-17) - YouTube .

In 1990, Spurrier's first season at Florida, we annihilated the Reptilian Horde 45-3. Here are the first-half highlights:

1990 Tennessee 45 Florida 3 - 1st Half - YouTube

At halftime, we led 7-3. The second-half kickoff return for a touchdown by Dale Carter broke open the floodgates and we scored 38 unanswered points. Here are the second half highlights:

Yes a UF stuck with Spurrier and six years later they had a National Championship. I know, just messing with both the NegaVols and Sunshine pumpers to keep the argument going :birgits_giggle:

I think we have done a damn good job running the ball but Chaney don't stick with it hell even back when Peyton was here we ran the ball effectively!! No it will not fix out defensive problems but we don't have to throw it Everytime either. Your not gonna bust 35 yarders Everytime and you will get stopped a time or two there ain't no shame in that but if the run game is consistent to complement the pass to keep the D honest we can win. I go back to the SC game when we are driving to win, we just busted a big gain by the run if we keep on the ground all the way to the endzone bray doesn't get sacked and fumble the ball.
