If we win a NCAAT championship does that make ZZ and Mashack the best duo in UT history?

Also, does ls it make ZZ the best (not necessarily most talented) Vol of all-time? I think so......

Such a joy watching them

No to both, it's a team game.
I think we're very blessed as fans that they chose the Vols and wish them nothing but good tidings in life.

Although it has been a joy watching theses guys it's not even close to Ernie and Bernie.

Perhaps most successful duo in UT history, but there's a lot of nuance/interpretation in that title relative to what people label as successful, I guess.

No three point line.
Coaching differences and emphasis
Talent wise both ends of the court was all natural for Ernie and Bernie.
Its not even close. King's NBA experience and production kind of says it all.
Ernie's production/Management in the NBA does as well.
Two New York area players says it all. Mears a great coach but going through a tough period of his life.

I never had the opportunity to watch them play. But every time Tennessee Men’s Basketball is brought up. The first names you hear are the Ernie and Bernie show. So they apparently were pretty darn good. So I would have to say that duo is tops in UT Men’s lore.

Bernard King and Ernie Grunfield are by far the best duo. If I remember correctly, King I think had an injured finger during the NCAA tourney and probably hurt us.. I want to think that team had a couple other good players too. Ernie and Bernie though, man unstoppable.

I believe King was SEC player of the year every year he played for Tennessee.

Grunfeld played for years in the NBA. Played PG. Led KC to the playoffs in 1983

If we were to win the title, ZZ would go down as the greatest PG in our history and I would even argue that him and Mashack would be the top duo in our history if they led us to a title. No offense to Ernie and Bernie, but our first title would with essentially two 3-4 year heavy playing time / starters would cement their GOAT status in the Tennessee program.

It should also cement that the number 5 officially is retired even though it should have been retired with Lofton time here.
