Considering how physical this game is going to be and how the refs have been calling games this year, I am a little worried this game will devolve into a free throw shooting contest. I hope not. I really, really hope not.

I've just got a bad feeling about this one. I'm thinking we're due for a 10 point loss. Great opponent + road game in tough enviornment = skepticism.

Like the rest of you, I am ready to see what Hopson can do in a game like this.

Nice. Kind of surprised you didn't go to the tourney at Madison Square Garden since you frequent the "Big Apple" quite often or at least use to.

There will be kids in my house while this game is on. I have NO idea how I am going to not cuss!

GBO!

Tell the kids to go in a different room when grown-up TV is on?

Why are the Vols not playing many games to start the season?

It's getting old watching like 1 game a week

Got any picks and predictions, Hat?

I think Hopson makes his name known. Big time.
1. At some point today, I'll eat a Primanti Brothers sandwich the size of a manhole cover.
2. Pitt 73 Tennessee 68. I think it's really a lot to ask of a team to go on the road against a Top 10 caliber team and win, especially off finals and a long layoff. UT is certainly capable of winning, I'd just be suprised if they did.

Number 1 is the most important prediction of the day.

How much will maymon not being there hurt us? In other words if he was playing would u give Tenn the edge?

I'm not one who thinks Maymon is going to be a difference maker. Even if he is, this isn't the kind of game you come into cold and excel. His availability doesn't influence my prediction.

If you've never been, make dinner reservations at LeMont. Fantastic view and good food. I eat there at least once every trip to Pitt.

Sounds like a realistic expectation to me.

I have seen Primante bros on several tv specials as in the off-season (ie: baseball season) my wife is a food network junkie, and that is most definitely one of the places I WILL visit on my time on earth... That, along with the bacon maple doughnut from Voodoo doughnuts in Portland... mmmmm...

Hat, you have to let us know which sandwich you go with @ Primante bros btw. They make the corned beef and (having a brain fart on the other deli meat that is the same cut of meat but instead of brined it is slow roasted in its own juices)... anyway, I demand a first hand account of Primante's finest.

Enjoy your trip Hat, and be careful on your quest home

I hope we can play them that close. I really am concerned about the long lay-off.

Well, my first prediction ended up a little off. I did have a sandwich the size of a manhole cover. However, on the recommendation of some folks in the Duquesne basketball office, I decided to wait til Sunday to hit Primanti Brothers and instead gave Sammy's Famous Corned Beef a shot. Brilliant advice. I had the special, which is the house made corned beef with swiss cheese, Russian Dressing, and either cole slaw or sauerkraut on your choice of bread. Of course, per my usual, I turned it into a traditional reuben by choosing kraut and rye bread. It was maginificent. I've eaten at Primanti's before and this was on par. The quality of the corned beef was almost the equal of Izzy's in Cincinnati, which is the standard I judge all others against.

Hey hat, welcome to Pittsburgh(if i recall, you have been here before). You should call up the fan on 93.7 give them your thoughts on the game. I'm excited about the game tomorrow, my boss seems to think Pitt may lose. Have you seen many TN fans out today? Have you ventured to the South Side?

I've been dowtown all day. Staying at the Omni William Penn. Had an interview today with Coach Everhart at Duquesne for a project I'm working on up here this weekend. Sunday will probably be my day to get out and about the city a little bit.

Sounds good (better than the Dominos Pizza I have to pick up on the way home), I am hungry now...

I had forgotten Pittsburgh was one of the few two newspaper towns left. That's a big bonus to a dinosaur like me. Nothing better than having two local sports sections to peruse over breakfast.
