Why do we want this guy? Not saying he will be a bad hire, but even I think we can do better.* In four seasons, he's secured commitments from four players -- seven were unrated by Rivals.com (including both last year and all four this year), three were two-star guys, and four were theree-star guys.* Like Scott Sutton, he is establishing solid recruiting ties to Kansas City, for whatever that's worth, but while he can clearly polish a diamond in the rough as well as anybody, he would certainly find it difficult if he only found diamonds in the rough.*

He is definitely not my choice. We can do better.

Some on VN want him because that is who Hatvol thinks will be hired. Not saying he couldn't do the job but we can do better.

I hope they hire Lawrence Frank, with the NBA background that should help recruiting not sure if he is a great X's and O's man but he has worked under some great coaches as an assistant (Bob Knight, Kevin O'Neil, Brian Hill (NBA), Doc Rivers)

He is proven, and he has won at every school he's went to.

This. I wanted Marshall in 01, this guy isn't an up and comer. Been around a while. In response to an earlier post on this thread. I didn't know who Hatvol was in 2001, sooo.

Look at what he did at Winthrop

And Winthrop post Marshall. I too never heard of Hatvol in 2001. Recruiting is a concern with ANY mid major coach, but Marshall is a Southern boy with good connections in this area, and, thanks to Pearl, the TN name should open some doors that would be closed to the Winthrops and Wichitas of the world.

I think some people are underestimating Marshall. I believe he would be a good fit here.

He doesn't land big name recruits because he's at Wichita State. Have you ever been to Wichita? I have and I would not want to live there. Despite this, he has had a solid program during his short time there. He also inheirited some of Mark Turgeon's players.

Didn't really do anything with Mark Turgeon's players though. His success has been his own.

Yeah because Wichita state always makes it past the first round. Come on! Don't want him

Gregg Marshall would be a great hire. I've not watched many WSU games but those I've watched have been a fun style of basketball. Very fast offense - they hit the defensive board hard and move the ball up-court quickly. Swarming/pressing defense. You can tell the players (and coach) are having fun. Look at his accomplishment in Wichita (a terrible place to sell a recruit). Just think what he could accomplish at one of the great college towns in America. Not only is he a good teacher and X/O coach, he'll keep the fan base energized.

He is obviously not my first choice but from watching Wichita St play and what Marshall has done...I would be happy with the hire
