Up front it seems like a good idea to lock in long term money, but ask Clemson how that ACC deal is working out for them. Too much change has happened and I think more will happen for a conference to go out more than about 5 years on a TV deal. Oklahoma and texas are going to make tons more than they would have in the Big12, if it all comes true.
It's hard for schools like OU, texas, etc., who actually have solid brands that have won something over the years, to watch the Vandy's, Missouri's, etc. make the kind of cash they are going to make. OU/tx believed that they are worth at least as much as every school in the SEC, though they might fudge a little on Alabama and Georgia right now. The great thing is that we are going to actually get to see if what they think is true, is true.
