In 2005, Louisiana was hit with a second hurricane right after Katrina. LSU postponed the Tennessee game that Sat till Monday night. Vols flew down Monday morning, played Monday night, flew back and played Ole Miss in 5 days. I guarantee Slive made Tennessee play that game then. You'll remember Vols won in OT

Sankey should have told these two to play on Sunday or Monday but you're gonna play this week somewhere, someday. Instead he lets Foley run the conference.

It's on the SEC, Florida just gamed the system.

UF(East) + Gumps(West) = Ratings = $$$ = SEC :)

Welcome to the SEC.

Is there a reason they couldn't play the game on Sunday or Monday? What a freakin' idiot commissioner.

Hurricane Matthew looks like it may whimper out as it approaches north Florida. Sankey should have mapped out a plan b in the event the "monster" storm petered out - that's basic 101 planning. I really think Florida wants to avoid this game. We will see what happens. The game must be played. Plan should have been to play Sunday or
Monday if the storm wasn't as bad as the forecasts.

Move the Florida/Georgia game up a week to the 22nd (instead of 29th) since both teams have a bye on the 22nd. LSU has open date on 29th and could play Florida if they would move the FL/GA game up a week

Florida reportedly refused to, either in Baton Rouge or Gainesville.

If the game actually ends up not being played, it will ultimately be on Sankey. I don't know if he has the explicit authority in the bylaws to do this, but the commissioner should be able to force 2 member schools to play a conference game so that a complete schedule is played.

As far as the ADs, I'm not sure if Alleva or Foley is the bigger coward. Both of them seem to have a pretty blasé attitude about this game - how is cancelling the game even an option?

Once this hurricane is over, Sankey needs to make an announcement that if the game is not played, both teams forfeit and take an L. That should motivate them to work out the details.

I have hated Bama for so long, I thought it was impossible for anyone to take their place.
This year.......Florida has accomplished this and moved to # 1 on my s*^& list.

That's actually incorrect. The SEC had to step in the Thursday before the game and conduct a conference call between the two at TN's asking because LSU was standing its ground and refusing to reschedule it (a third game rescheduled that year). That's how the game got moved to Monday.

The Tigers, however, opted to wait and the SEC offices had to step in that Thursday before the game and move the game to Monday. UT had offered to host the game with LSU as the home team and this had dragged on enough that UT was just about ready to forfeit if LSU didn't reschedule (Hamilton stating they would do such "if we felt like it would be unfair to our student-athletes and not safe for our student-athletes."). Tennessee was even willing to go down the day of the game (noting that it made no sense if they were sending people out of Louisiana). TN's coaches also even tried to push for the game to be at the end of the year.

LSU's AD repeatedly sited logistical concerns (after moving the first game to AZ State and their 2nd game to later in the season) and eventually it had to go to Slive and the SEC front offices- as UT appealed to the SEC offices and the situation still had not been resolved - to overrule that and of the SEC front offices had to move the game to Monday that Thursday before the game. LSU's AD even said prior that they were not going to move this game to another location. In fact, the associated press reported that LSU officials would have preferred (/ were pushing) for the game to still be that Saturday (or even Sunday) with Hurricane Rita looming over a post-Katrina Louisiana.

(LSU's AD Skip Bertman even said before the weekend that the change caused them to face significant logistical challenges and that they would have preferred to have just played the game that weekend. He states their preference to play on Sunday night if not Saturday night, and then noted to the associated press that LSU wasn't going to move the game to another location / hadn't been considering doing so.)

There is literally no reason to have a football game in Florida at any point the next few days. Let the SEC work on this for the future and go from there.

As much as I hate Bama. And God I hate their guts. Alabama would never pull a stunt like this.
