Greg Sankey needs to bring in more teams to the SEC

His league is a dumpster fire in Basketball.

A) No it's not.

B) This is a football conference first. This ain't the ACC, and the SEC dominates football.

C) The SEC pretty much already dominates in the other better known sports; women's basketball, baseball, softball.

The SEC is doing just fine.

Yep...just the way matchups lined up...and arguably UT and TaM...maybe Ark were the only teams really peaking. For some reason, other teams peaking at right time...Miami, Mich, etc. Vols win vs Mich if we don't go on scoring drought. If's and buts, but our seedings didn't pan out for us, and 3 of 4 top tier teams (UT, UK, Aub) didn't show up.

I'm thinking Barnes and Pearl have a point that the SEC tourney may not be a plus for teams going into the NCAA unless your one that needs a bid. Barnes said he would agree the only teams that don't have a bid locked up should play in the tourney and Pearl said the season is already a grind and the SEC tourney just adds more grind. SEC tourney is just about money. Their opinions are worth thinking about.

As a fan it's a nice distraction, and I'm glad we won it. But the truth is, it's kind of worthless and this year pretty much proved it unless our name was Kentucky. If it went away I'd get over it. But it never will.

I was thrilled to win the SEC Tournament and the players truly deserved that moment.

However, I wouldn’t be upset if they got rid of Conference Tournaments all together.

All teams should have a full week of preparation for the NCAA Tournament.

If you didn’t do well enough in the regular season to earn a spot in the Big Dance, that’s on you as a coach and a team.

Clear their game plan was to shut down Vescovi and they succeeded.

We just can't beat teams from the big 10. Maybe it's the way those teams are built to succeed in that conference? They approach it from inside out where we seem to be married to the 3 ball? Maybe their style of play is more suited to tournament ? Or maybe we're just cursed? We're the Minnesota Vikings of college sports? Frustrating as hell.

We’ve beat big ten teams before. Don’t fall into simplistic thinking. It’s about matchups, shooting %, luck and the way the game is reffed among other factors

The brutal truth in Basketball is that most of the season is worthless. The tournament matters above everything.

Take Michigan, they had a horrible season but it is all good now that they made the Sweet 16.

I honestly think the team that gets Tennessee to the Final Four will be one that is a 7 seed or something low and goes on upset run. All the higher seed does for you (especially after the first game) is put a target on your back and make the players nervous.

However, SEC is definitely the laughing stock of the tournament.

I really think the NCAA Tournament format is actually the issue for a variety of reasons:

1. Too many teams, in reality the tournament should be 32 teams or so.
2. No home court advantage for higher seeds (no real benefit for what you accomplished in regular season)

It is setup to have top seeds fail and have upsets. It creates for great entertainment but it also makes it a very poor way to crown a champion.

The funny thing is that 50% of the people that watch College Basketball don't really watch it very much until March Madness. It is the biggest event in the sport and far outweighs everything else. This is why Tennessee basketball isn't getting respect because we are failing on the biggest stage of the sport.

The tournament needs to finish on Saturday giving an extra day to rest. If you play on Sunday in the Championship and then draw a Thursday NCAA game - that’s a disadvantage.

The SEC tournament creates too much revenue and frankly as a fan, I completely enjoy - guys have a championship this year that can never be taken away.
Having said that, why not move the tournament up a week and have full week off before NCAA starts - would take squeezing a couple more games in a shortened regular season schedule, but 2 games in a what 10 week schedule should not be hard to do - playing 3 games in a week mid-February much better than playing 3 games in 3 days 4 days before starting NCAA.

In the SEC--football is the cash cow--it's all that matters. Basketball brings in pocket change.

I agree...you can tell they said shut down Santi...and at the end of the day, as well as Chandler played, he just couldn't do it all. JJJ did well in first half but don't remember him doing too much in second half (or anyone besides Chandler)
