Greg Sankey needs to bring in more teams to the SEC

I agree...you can tell they said shut down Santi...and at the end of the day, as well as Chandler played, he just couldn't do it all. JJJ did well in first half but don't remember him doing too much in second half (or anyone besides Chandler)
Plavsic had so many good looks at the rim, but he still doesn't have the confidence to finish. He misses way too many shots from 2 feet away

The tournament needs to finish on Saturday giving an extra day to rest. If you play on Sunday in the Championship and then draw a Thursday NCAA game - that’s a disadvantage.
I agree with that especially when mid majors sre typically the week before so get a an extra week of rest.

We’ve beat big ten teams before. Don’t fall into simplistic thinking. It’s about matchups, shooting %, luck and the way the game is reffed among other factors
I go back to Mears and watched the best UT basketball team I've ever seen get sent packing by VMI. History is full of examples of our futility in the NCAAT. The fact that we actually won the SECT blew my mind. Never thought I'd live long enough to see us win it again. A small part of me wondered if the curse was finally over, but once I saw UK go down then saw us end up facing Michigan, I knew what was coming. It really is simple for me. No matter who coaches or how well we recruit, it's just not going to happen for us......ever. Might be a tad melodramatic to some, but I honestly feel that way.

I'm thinking Barnes and Pearl have a point that the SEC tourney may not be a plus for teams going into the NCAA unless your one that needs a bid. Barnes said he would agree the only teams that don't have a bid locked up should play in the tourney and Pearl said the season is already a grind and the SEC tourney just adds more grind. SEC tourney is just about money. Their opinions are worth thinking about.

Playing a tournament with Mizzou, Vandy SC, Ga etc might be the stupidest f-cking idea I’ve heard yet.

I think in terms of progression. We tied for 2nd in reg season, won SEC tourney, and made it to the 2nd game. Most of the team has tasted a little success and see where they can get to. Now let’s just be patient and watch them develop!

Pearl played one game and lost, he can’t use the SECT as an excuse for his early exit in the NCAAT.

The brutal truth in Basketball is that most of the season is worthless. The tournament matters above everything.

Take Michigan, they had a horrible season but it is all good now that they made the Sweet 16.

I honestly think the team that gets Tennessee to the Final Four will be one that is a 7 seed or something low and goes on upset run. All the higher seed does for you (especially after the first game) is put a target on your back and make the players nervous.

However, SEC is definitely the laughing stock of the tournament.
Unless Michigan goes to the FF, I would say UT had the better season. Better record, more good wins, SECT title, Barnes did't girly slap anyone, etc.

You do realize that over 50% of men's basketball fans only watch March Madness? It is pretty much the main event in the sport and gets all of the attention. You are pretty much graded based on how you do in that tournament. The regular season means nothing other than to get seeds for that tournament.

Definitely have had a rough time this year. But did you think the SEC was the best a few years ago when it had 4 out of 16 in there? I doubt you did. Don’t be a Chicken Little over one year worth of data. The sky ain’t falling.

We had a better year 2 years ago, so yes. This is the worse tournament for the SEC in a while.

Yes it is. But it’s one year so no need in making such a drastic proclamation as your OP. If we flop several years in a row, then maybe you can make that statement but not right now.

Why should anyone care about TV ratings or hype unless they're in advertising or are lemmings? Folks who grade a team's success solely on NCAAT results would be casual observers at best. It's misguided to say a team with Michigan's results is more successful than UT because they win a couple more games in a tournament.

It's 3 days. The teams get 3 days between Tues and Sat during the season. They get 3 days between Sat and Wed during the season. It's not that big of a deal.

Yeah, this is a ridiculous excuse. At some point fans are just gonna have to admit we got outplayed and move on.

Ratings don't really matter long term though. Unless you make the Final Four and honestly unless you win it, most people don't even remember past a few weeks later. Our 2010 E8 team is special to us but to pretty much the rest of the college baksetball world they forgot like a week later. And on top of that, unless you go to multiple FFs and win some NCs scattered in there over a long period, nobody remembers.

The typical fan probably doesn't remotely even remember George Mason making the FF in 2006, VCU in 2011, and honestly if people do remember Loyola-Chicago making it in 2018 it's because of the nun.

The fallacy in this argument is that they do not play 3 nights in a row and then turn around and play 3 days later. Playing Sat then Wednesday is no big deal, I agree...........but playing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (and playing best teams in conference at least 2 of those games) and then playing on Thursday is a little different.

SEC has been awful in the NCAA tournament. The NCAA tournament is also the worst BUT most fun way in determining who the best team is. The SEC put a good product on the court this year and had some of the best basketball players in the country.
