What part of what I said was false?

Nothing I guess, as it's merely an opinion, but I don't feel like we've played a "muderers row" schedule. We've played 3 legitimate teams and lost to all three of them in VERY ugly fashion, mostly due to our own inability to score and not anything that the other team did.

Wichita St doesn't struggle to score, and we do. Their RPI is currently 114 points higher than ours and their strength of schedule is 92, while ours is 149.

I just think that championing our schedule thus far is off-base, and to say WSU wouldn't be undefeated had they played our same schedule, certainly is too. Statistically, they have played a tougher schedule and don't struggle to score the basketball in the fashion we do.

We haven't played a hard schedule, but all I was getting at is let them play our schedule and they wouldn't be undefeated. They would probably be 5-2 with loses against Georgetown and OSU.

I honestly think there's a select group who really do hope Tennessee loses so they can point a finger and say things like "goodbye Cuonzo".

I don't believe there are any regular posters that want UT to lose. But there is certainly a group that ignores Martin's failures. And the correlation of Martin's failures directly resulting in UT losing.

When he keeps doing the same thing expecting a different result, what do you expect people to say? When asked what changes he is making to solve the putrid offense his only answer is to blame the players for not making enough shots.

He needs to show improvement. He talked a good game about competing for national championships, but the products sucks.

His apologists can only blame the players being hurt, the refs, traveling across time zones, and other boloney for so long. At the end of the day, it boils down to wins an loses. We are 4-3 with a ridiculous team stat line.

If we win tonight the whiners will simply disappear until the next loss.
I promise I'll come tomorrow if UT wins. Will that make me a man? I so covet your approval. I bet some of you put "expert sports forum poster" on your resume.

Shaft will have every opportunity to show he can coach. I just don't see any evidence that he will be anything other than an average coach in this league.

Finishing 2nd in your 1st year and beating a top 2 coach in the SEC twice isn't any evidence?

and there's definitely a group that ignores his achievements, so I guess it's one extreme or the the huh?

Do you mean achievements like teaching people how to knot a tie and buying lunch for strangers, or achievements like making the NCAA tourney and winning games?

Oh, please do Roust.
Your whiny ass complaints are so encouraging.
I'm not exactly dazzled by what Martin has done so far, but I am at least willing to let him coach 2 full season's before deciding he's a mistake. In his 5th season. Time to learn or find an AD job.
Haven't really seen the improvement like we were led to believe in the off season and I don't think he'll survive recruiting 1 good player a season and the rest projects.

Those accompanied with a tourney birth and games that have national importance/relevance would be great.

Those as stand-alone evidence of greatness are pretty weak.

Yeah, because everyone sweeps Fla. Stupidity and ignorance are your greatest traits.

You about got all those Debbie Downer pickles made? It's Christmas time. I'm sure there are some legions of the miserable who need more of them.

No like being 2nd in the SEC in his first year! Or being 2-0 vs a Elite 8 Florida team. Or beating a team with 2 lottery picks (UCONN). Or beating a Vandy team with 3 NBA players.

Achievements like beating Florida twice and UCONN last year. Or achievements like finishing 2nd in the SEC when picked to finish 11th, so by 99% of people's standards he exceeded them.

Are those the ultimate goals, hell no, but those are achievements.

And all that is great and would point to a team that made a run in the NCAA tourney. Unfortunately, coupling those wins with a second round NIT home loss is what we got.

One doesn't negate the other.

This is exactly what I was talking about when I said there's a group that doesn't acknowledge his achievements.

He was projected to finish 11th!! What did you expect I guarantee you tjat golden bly pearl wouldn't have made the tounry. He overachieved. He wasn't blessed with inheriting an AA like Chris Lofton. Everyone he inherited had no previous playing experience.

Exactly you can't give a compliment without following it up with an insult when talking about Martin.

You could've said all that is great and left it at that.

Yeah, I'll leave all the black slapping for nothing to the Martin Spirit Squad. I acknowledge his victories and weigh them against his mounting evidence of crappy coaching. When he does something of real merit he'll have my praise without the due criticism.

Guess I need to change this to the FireGreggMarhall.com thread.
Good job Vols, and thank goodness for man to man defense.
