Griffey is a brave!!

He can't hit lefties at all anymore. The Griffey/Diaz platoon is going to be about like moving Kelly Johnson back out to left field would have been. And while Johnson is a decent hitter for a 2B, as a LF, he's terrible. The Braves have about 3 or 4 guys who need to hit 7th, and nobody to put at the top of the order.

Griffey makes the roster better than it was yesterday, marginally, and so I guess it's a good move. But it's hard to believe that the "big outfield bat" that the Braves were talking about getting ended up being a 38 year old retread to platoon with Matt Diaz. This offseason has been a disaster.

I like them all - even occasionally soccer. In fact, the slow pace and nuance of baseball is what I enjoy.

10 years ago this would have been news.

now, not so much.
Eh, true to some degree, but I think most people know what they are getting. 20 HRs, 70 RBI and a sure Hall of Famer on the roster is never a bad thing.

Does he pitch now, because last time I checked Atlanta needed pitchers more than future HOF'ers in their twillight years.

based on the responses to this on the information superhighway, lots people think he is still the missing link to another World Series.

it's certainly not a bad thing if you're trying to put butts in seats.

That's just the delusion of 1991-2005 that hasn't worn off some fans yet. Realistically, an 80 win team probably just became an 84 win team.

I agree. They're still probably another bat and a starting pitcher short of being something serious.

The Braves have become the A's of the National League. I have been meaning to look into the Minor Leagues and see what Wren is trying to exactly do with this team, but just haven't got the time.

to save time just watch the Texas Rangers...what did the Braves get out of that deal, again?

That's the sad part. A huge reason I'm a Braves fan is because my Dad always watched them on TBS, so when I was growing up I would just watch.

Then when I moved to NC I could never get them on FoxSports because, even though many people in the area I was in were Braves fans, the local FoxSports channel showed O's and Nationals games. So, I watched them all the time, until me and my buddies threw in on the MLB Online deal.

The next season the O's and the National's went to some new MASN (I think) network and the NC area had zero baseball games. I then started watching Cubs/ White Sox games on WGN.

Nutshell, I am out of touch with my Braves.
