The Braves have become the A's of the National League.
As bad as things seem, you've got to remember that the Braves do have money tied up in long term deals with guys like Jones, Soriano, McCann, Lowe, Vazquez, Gonzalez, Hudson etc. The A's don't do that very often.

Very true.

I guess I was speaking on how they are more prone to sit back at FA time and pick up guys like Griffey, Tom Glavine, etc. instead of trying --well not completing--home runs deals. Like how the A's get guys like Thomas, Piazza, Giambi, etc. to just milk them of everything they have left.

I really need to go pick up a couple baseball pre season mags.

I didn't mean it as a bad thing.

Just the environment of the Braves have changed with Liberty (I don't even know if they still own the Braves) getting the team from Turner and not having the backing of big money. When they go after players that have to be smart.

I like the A's. If I had to root for a AL team it's them. Then maybe the O's just because I watched them a lot in NC.

That's the sad part. A huge reason I'm a Braves fan is because my Dad always watched them on TBS, so when I was growing up I would just watch.

Then when I moved to NC I could never get them on FoxSports because, even though many people in the area I was in were Braves fans, the local FoxSports channel showed O's and Nationals games. So, I watched them all the time, until me and my buddies threw in on the MLB Online deal.

The next season the O's and the National's went to some new MASN (I think) network and the NC area had zero baseball games. I then started watching Cubs/ White Sox games on WGN.

Nutshell, I am out of touch with my Braves.

Ted Turner was the man. That's all I have to say about that.

just busting your chops. Haven't paid much attention, but aren't the A's roughly an average of 18 years younger than the braves?

Not a big loss. The Braves weren't going to score enough runs to contend this year anyway. They need three outfielders, not half of one.
