Gruden HC because of "WIFE" ??

Dooley embraced and lived UT football and bled orange. And he was a terrible coach. If Gruden decides to come here because his wife wants him to, and he coaches like we're expecting him to coach, and recruit. I could care less his reasons.

Obviously I'd like to see him put it all into the program though if he came.

Anyone who doesn't think that a wife/family is a huge influence on career choice doesn't have a wife or family.

Oh, and Smokey: what's with the Haiku?

Good God..That would not be the only reason he takes the UT job. He loves and respects UT and is not doing it just because his wife wants too.
This. I don't see her pressuring Gruden to take the job anyway. Maybe stating her opinion but not forcing it.

Listen I would love for JG to be our next HC, but if the only reason he takes the job is because his wife wants him to....
Well that would not work for me, because I want the next
Coach of UT to be fully committed and on a mission to restore UT's Prestige to what is used to be.
So if thats the only reason he would become HC that tells me
he would be choosing the job for the wrong reasons!!

Thoughts???

This has hurt Bama....How?

If she really wanted to live here then they would be here already. With the job he has they could live wherever they want.

Married

If my husband ever had a bunch of jobs on the table you BETTER BELIEVE I get my say. All things being equal, it would come down to making me and kids happy.

The fact is, if she's a strong woman, he does not want to live with her if he goes elsewhere and it doesn't work out.

First off, I doubt she wants him to take ANY HC job. Right now, he is home 4-5 days a week minimum and not working 60-80 hours like most coaches do.

Second, there is two sets of married guys on here posting. Those admitting they are whipped and the others who are lying their not.

Would you rather have a coach that takes the job just because of the money? At this point, no one knows why JG may or may not take the job.

There's all kinds of reasons why someone takes a job. Money, tax purposes, climate, the list goes on. If Jon Gruden decides to come here I don't care if its because he likes Dollywood and good moonshine. I would rather have a coach who comes because its a move that brings the wife home than one that just sees it as a chance to make more money.

Damn, that's sad. Sneak into her purse and get your balls back man!

Lol, she cooks and cleans, does the motherly things with the kids, I don't understand why I would shake that up when I can just say, "What? oh yea ok." and go back to drinking beer.

He is a competitor. I don’t care what gets him here; I fully believe if he is here, he will do everything in his power to win every damn game he is a part of!

The only reason I come to work everyday is because my wife forces me to get out of bed.

Because its crazy to make a life changing decision
like that and do it only because your wife really likes
the area.
Listen all im saying is that i want to make sure his
heart would be in it not just because he wants to make
his "WIFE" happy.

Are you actually thinking about what you are saying?

I am not one to pass judgement on threads but this whole thing is asinine.

His wife WON'T be the only reason he comes here.

Being possibly the highest paid coach in the country, appreciating UT, looking to the challenge of coaching college players, enjoying the Knoxville area, all of those things and more will be mitigating factors in a decision.

Also, not saying Tampa is a dump but East Tennessee is a nice place to raise children. Win-Win IMO
