Let me preface this by saying that I think people should be able to own weapons, but that is such an oversimplified way of looking at it. Guns may not kill people by themselves, but they sure make the process a lot easier.

I don't disagree. The guy obviously was never taught proper gun safety. I don't care if a gun is unloaded or not, I'm not pointing one at anything I don't plan on shooting. To put one in a friend's mouth is beyond stupid. I can't imagine the feelings (in the shooter's mind) after that gun went off.

Guns are tools, nothing more. But just like you wouldn't jokingly stick your buddy's head into an "unplugged" wood chipper, you don't play with guns.

Being stupid gets people killed. Ways and means vary greatly of course but in the end it was death by stupid. If you haven't seen any episodes of 1000 Ways to Die while some examples are just very bad luck a huge chunk are simply idiots getting themselves killed.

True, but it's too easy to kill someone with a gun. I wonder how many people would have the guts or strength to try kill someone with a knife/rope/etc.

In this case, stupidity would have killed one of them anyway, guns or no guns.

I feel bad for the family of the guy killed but geez, how stupid can you be?

it's pretty easy to kill someone in a lot of ways, Great Britain has a pretty extensive gun ban, but people keep getting murdered.

You can't be that dumb. I don't think anyone said banning guns would stop every murder, but it would decrease the amount. The nation you used as an illustration has much fewer murders than we do. What part didn't you get.
