Gus Malzahn impressed by Tennessee offensive line

I do have to say that I've been hard on them, but i felt that the Vols should have won that game against Mizzou

I think some criticism is ok, and the O-line admitted they had a bad game. It was a tough, embarrassing loss, but if you consider we had:

A true freshman QB

On the road

In his first start

Against a top 10 team

With a experienced, fast WR corp

against our slow secondary

It's hard for me to think we should've won that game. I do wish he had had more effort though. Felt like we got to the 35 yard line like 7 or 8 times.

I really hope our offensive line steps up next year. I know we lose four seniors and Tiny will decide if he is going pro or not. Maybe next year, they'll finally step up and play like the Tennessee we know they can. I'm tired of this offensive line underachieving game in, game out.

I think Tiny will stay...His value has gone down this year.

No offense to Coach Mahoney, but miss Pittman. Don't know what he did to put some fire under the line but they were a LOT better last yr.

Pittman was one coach I was hoping to be retained more than any other coach.

Bray could throw downfield. Kinda takes the pressure off the line; also he got rid of it quick. He was playing scared after his injury. Hence - low sacks on the season: not the O-line's accomplishment, but Bray's ability to get rid of it quick.

"It was tough and disappointing to see our performance like that," Stone told Tennessee reporters on Monday. "We need to be leaders for our team, but we didn't perform to our abilities or what our team expected from us."

Really, he didn't know how bad they were til he saw the film? Did he look at the scoreboard during the game. These guys could be the best part of our team, but they don't play hard much of the time. Need a coach to motivate them.

:good!: :good!: No sarcasm...it's just that some need it spelled at to them.

Their dominance last year was very much accredited to bray, CP, Rodgers, hunter, and Rivera. They just don't have the skill positions this year to back them up like last year. They've been solid most of the year though.

He probably is impressed with our o line. Impressed that they have let the defenses have a field say with them with all that experience we have. Experience doesn't make you great like an old saying goes knowledge isn't wisdom it's knowing how to apply the knowledge is wisdom. They need to know how to apply the experiences they have and play ball but 3 years of bad coaching I would hate to say they didn't have much experience to draw from that is good.

Coaches always compliment the other team just before an old fashioned ass whoopn', right now we are on the receiving end unfortunately. Man up and finish 7-5 .

The opposing coaches pregame "coach speak" so far this year has been to say we have a great OL. Helfrich said it, Richt said it, Saban said and now Malzahn. Like they're reading from a script. Even if its not true it's the perception. Can't exactly point to any other position group and give the old sandbagging coach speak and rave about how good they are.

This is the truth. Auburn coach merely looking for something positive to talk about. Can't be the secondary. Ugh. Other than AJ, can't be the LBs. QB looked rough for 1st start. WRs dropped the ball. RBs only got 94 yds combined. Palardy got all our points.

Didn't leave much to talk about other than OL and Palardy punting. He chose the OL. .

Here we go again. Yes we have an amazing oline. Yet as amazing as they are we can't run the ball at all. And when we go to throw we are constantly under pressure. But don't let the numbers fool you. They're great.

Part of living in today's liberal socialist world. Reality is always twisted to support the mantra from above. Group speak everywhere. Everything is always rosy. We are all the same. Big government will be there to take care of you. There are no winners and losers, just participants on the field.

Go back to the politics section, please.

Actually the dreamers that think we will beat Auburn or that our OL is great are the politicians here.

They are an overrated line with an entitlement attitude. Anybody want to bet we will be better next year?

been hearing that for years now, champ.

Vandy
Ole Miss
Mizzou
Auburn

These are all teams that have improved during that time. But it's always wait till next year for UT. Funny how that works out.

The OL IMO has mailed this season in, they're doing a "Clowney" they've been listening to too many "NFL caliber" statements in the press. Overall they play well in spurts. I expect to see about the same performance from them we saw at Mizzou against AU. They'll show up again against UK and Vandy and we'll go bowling ... where the 4 seniors will perform so as not to jeopardize their health and NFL stock is my prediction.
