Hail to the Washington Commanders

Simmer down. It's preseason

He has thrown the ball 20 times over 3 games. If 3 of those passes over 2 games went differently, the discussion would be different.

I've been suggesting Cousins over RGIII since this time last year. RGIII just doesn't transform into an effective NFL system. He's going to make flashy plays here and there, but not enough to cover up not making enough regular plays to make a difference. It was a fun experiment, but I'd test out Cousins for the year and see if we need to go all chips in on a new QB next draft.

Snyder: Redskins have 'started the process' of planning new stadium | Comcast SportsNet Washington

“We've already seen some preliminary drawings and I'm going to be very retro with it,” he told CSN. “It's gonna feel like RFK. It's gonna move like RFK. I love that, I actually asked architectural firms to do it and they said that they can do it. I said that I think the lower bowl sections are going to want to rock the stadium like the old days.”

Awesome. I remember the lower section rocking. Only problem with the lower section was you had to stand

6. Trent Williams, LT, Washington Redskins

Denver's Ryan Clady was the choice for Polian, but with Clady coming off foot surgery, Williams was the left tackle I decided to target. A conversation with tackle Andrew Whitworth in the Bengals' locker room earlier this offseason cemented the choice in my mind. I simply asked Whitworth which tackles he respected and why. He said the proliferation of the spread offense in college has produced tackles with a range of styles, but Williams, the highest-rated tackle in Pro Football Focus grading last season, was his top choice.

"Trent Williams is a guy who has tenacity and the attitude he plays with, you can see is pretty special," Whitworth said. "He is a big man that can move and really finishes people in the run game as well. He is a guy to me that is fun to watch, fun to watch his tape, just kind of the chip he plays with on his shoulder. He is a guy who sticks out to me."

Just listened to the podcast (Ross Tucker) where Greg Cosell talked a little bit about RG3. Cosell of course is widely considered in the NFL and by experts to be one of the smartest / most knowledgeable guys around, especially when it comes to the QB play. He works for NFL Films and has decades of experience really studying guys, watching endless hours of tapes, scouting (college) players, so if there's one guy who knows what he's talking about it's him.

He was asked by Tucker if we as Redskins fans should have any hope regarding RG3, which was a stupid way to word the question in the first place and rightfully so Cosell got a little offended ("the way you ask this question it's obvious you don't think he can play"). After being put in his place Tucker tries again. This time he's asking Cosell if he thinks that based on RG3's preseason performance (the entire 3 snaps) whether he's seen enough to believe that RG3 can become a pure pocket passer under Gruden. Again, stupid question, but Cosell responded anyway. Basically he's saying you can't make any judgement right now based considering RG3 has never in his life been involved in this kind of offense so what exactly do people expect. It'll take time. People shouldn't be surprised because of the timing/rhythm we lack in the passing game, that he's working on his footwork & balance, the routes (timing), all that takes time. Cosell also says "what RG3 is going through is totally expected. Totally. It's not news! For people it is, but not for me it's not news at all."

Thought it was interesting to listen to, with all this trashing of RG3 coming from people that don't really follow the game or the Redskins. They look at his rookie year, now they look at a couple of pre season snaps, they see the numbers where like in his last game a tipped ball got picked or a huge play got called back by a bogus penalty, and then they make certain judgements without really thinking and going things through. It's not always just black & white, it's a lot more complicated. That's why it's nice to hear from somebody who knows what he's talking about to paint a better picture of this situation.
