It is clearly Hamilton's fault for the lackluster performance in today's game. This team has not shown a lack of effort in the second half or first half for that matter of any game this season. They have not had any half-court offense problems before. All 15 losses this season can be attributed to Hamilton. If he had only shown support for Pearl initially when the NCAA news broke this entire season would have been different. Hamilton needs to be immediately dismissed.

Misguided, with some rays of truth involved. This team giving up at halftime was sickening. Everybody knows CBP was gone, but it should have been put off until the games were done to chop his head off.

I'm hoping this is blatant sarcasm. Of course the only person to blame for today is BP- they simply played the way they had the entire season.

Instead if losing by 28, Hamilton made them lose by 30. No way it would have mattered.

If one can't see the correlation between the MH interview, and today's game, I can't help you.

I will have to agree with the OP...kinda. What motivation does BP have to coach this team. Hamilton threw a wrench into the fan and this is what happened. Perhaps the fan was about to break but a wrench being thrown into it was not a good idea regardless of the condition of the fan and this time it ruined it entirely. I blame Hamilton for this embarrassing loss but i blame the season on CBP and the players.

This team is not connected to pearl as much as they could be. I don't see the players playing their asses off for CBP in this situation.

A pretty fair point. After the news that a coach is getting fired, it's really rare that you find a team ever actually rallying around him that next game / one more game

...that Hollywood style "win one for the gipper" sh-t just doesn't happen in the real world

The team folding up and just quitting once the game turned is all on Hamilton.

The game turned because they had no idea what to do when Michigan went to the zone, and that's on the coaching staff. The team's effort and focus seemed pretty good before that.

I was being too sarcastic in the post. I think that Hamilton's comments were very poorly timed and probably did have some impact on today's game. However, Pearl created the mess that is his undoing as coach at UT. There is no way this season could have been successful with the drama that has followed this team all season. I am very disappointed that we have a group of players who show no pride or effort in wearing the Orange. It has been that way too often this season. I think that Pearl has made major contributions to the basketball program and has made this a much better job for his successor. However, it is clearly time for him to go. He no longer has the support of the administration or even his own team, based on the performance today. Losing to an inferior team by 30 can't indicate any other logical explanation.

I wouldn't be surprised he gave the interview on purpose knowing what a negative effect it would have on the team. Automatic loss, fire Bruce, hire a new coach as soon as possible. However, MH needs to go as soon as possible, too.

How about this...Bruce Pearl has done more for the basketball program at Tennessee than Mike Hamilton ever thought about doing (other than hiring Pearl...but then he also hired Kiffen). Bruce Pearl has been a great coach; he made one mistake, and the very recruits that have caused all the ruckus didn't even sign with Tennessee. Bruce Pearl WILL get a second chance with a major NCAA team - why shouldn't UT be the program that gives him that second chance? In recognition of all that he has done for us, the UT fan base needs to rise up in support of OUR coach. In support of his recruits (Tobias Harris, for instance), Bruce Pearl deserves the chance to bring those young players along in the program they committed to in the first place. I say Mike Hamilton goes, and Bruce Pearl stays.

I wonder if Hamilton threw Pearl under the bus to save his own butt. Its odd that all the rule violations happened in football and basketball around the same time ...

This is an example of a huge steaming pile of garbage of a post.

I'm speechless. Hamilton needs to go. As crazy as it sounds, I somewhat agree that Hamilton had a big part in this loss today. I blame the season on Pearl and the constant distractions but Hammy really dropped a bomb on this team. No way you rally behind a coach that has one foot out the door.

This team was just mentally drained.
You could see it in their faces.
Hamilton should be fired today and Pearl should show some class and resign.
Enough is enough.

Please, that would imply that Hamilton's actually clever
