Not in favor of this at all. I don't want to see anyone else portray these characters other than Harrison Ford and Billy Dee Williams. I don't care how good it is.

I'm withholding judgment till I see it. Having someone else play Han is borderline blasphemous.

It depends on how it turns out.

If it turns out to be like McGregor playing Obi-Wan, it will be a home run. He was one of the few great things about the prequels because he nailed being a younger Alec Guiness.

I know nothing about the guy playing Han, but I can already see that Glover can nail being a younger Williams.

Who could pull off Han Solo among today's actors? Maybe Gosling?

Ron Howard is stepping in to direct since the duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) were cast aside due to creative differences with Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan. This is a VERY encouraging development for this movie. I have high hopes for it now.

Good. I don't understand why those two would be hired for a movie like this to begin with.

Been against this film from the very beginning! It had better absolutely deliver because doing a Han Solo origin story is a terrible idea IMO.

Ha Ron Howard! Bringing in that f'n hack ensures failure. What a yes man. That dude has been firing blanks for quite a while. If it weren't for his narration of Arrested Development he would be completely without merit.

He is what I would call a "play it easy" director but that's what the producers at LucasFilm want. I would disagree that he's been firing a blanks for quite a while. I especially liked Rush even though I have no interest in Formula one racing. This looks like a good fit for the laid back, humor oriented movie the producers seem to be shooting for. Sometimes the safe move is the right one to make.

Definite upgrade over Lord and Miller.

This ain't 2001 and A Beautiful Mind was just a bit past ok. Before then yes, Backdraft, Splash, Willow all great but you make movies out of Dan Brown books you are a hack, no if and or buts.

Star Wars has a lot of light-hearted/funny moments, but it's not a comedy.

I agree with that statement. But who has the majority of the funny moments? Seems that if you are focusing more attention to the character that always has a one liner handy, it could lend it self to a more humorous movie.

I don't care that they replaced Lord\Miller Just think it will be darker with Opie at the helm.

Tough to change the tone when they have already shot most of it.
