Hank Jr. Leaves ESPN

Sarah Palin called the Espin reaction disgusting.

"Hank Williams and what he is going through now,
I think it's a very clear illustration of a greater societal
problem and that is the hypocrisy on the left -- the
liberals who can throw these stones at a conservative
and they knowing that they're not going to be held
accountable," Palin told Fox colleague Sean Hannity
on his radio show Thursday.

An old joke about the Soviet Union:

A western reporter is interviewing a Russian peasant.

Reporter: “What is your opinion on domestic affairs?”
Peasant: “I agree with the policy of the party.”

Reporter: “What is your opinion on foreign affairs?”
Peasant: “I agree with the policy of the party.”

Reporter: “Don't you have any opinions of your own?”
Peasant: “Yes. But I don't agree with them.”

Now it seems that if you have a high-profile job in
the USA today, you have to be just like that Russian
peasant.

"In times of universal deceipt, to tell the truth is a
revolutionary act."
Orwell

The NAZI Party had a policy called “Gleichschaltung”,
which they imposed on the media, and others mercilessly.

(Gleichschaltung is a perversion ot the German language
meaning; 'to bring in line.')

Among the goals of this policy were to bring about
adherence to a specific doctrine, and way of thinking,
and to control as many aspects of life as possible.

The control of hearts and minds, to which totalitarian
political systems aspire, necessitates such a perversion
of the normal use of language. Meaning is twisted and
distorted in such a way that the citizens of a totalitarian
state can no longer distinguish truth from falsehood.

George Orwell’s famous books 1984 and Animal Farm
are the classic fictional statements of this aspect of
totalitarianism. In 1984 there is a Ministry of Truth,
modelled on the Ministry of Propaganda and Popular
Enlightenment established by Goebbels.

And it isn't a racist thing either, notice the vitriol
spewed by the MSNBC efhead when interviewing
Herman Cain.

The southern man, black or white, is supposed to be
some sort of retarded knuckle dragger.

Sadly gleichschaltung aka political correctness is all
too successful in modern day America.

Irrational, unfounded, misguided, blind biased statement. But thats your right to loathe someone for no real reason. Let me just ask you though is it her failed policies or her wreckless spending and their affect on this economy that bothers you the most?

Oh, thats right nothing she does affects you or your families well being like the Congress and Potus desicions, or lack of, do. Your wishing she would be attacked and eaten by animals makes perfect sense and is , of course, completely sane.

after reading, and listening to Hank, Jr.'s comments, I fail to see how they were worth all the heartburn they caused.

After all, didn't Obama call the GOP "enemies" during a speech to some Hispanic group?

nothing like a good ol' double standard

1) ESPN =/= US Government. They can fire whoever they want for whatever reason they want.

2) As much as I've hated the decisions made by various Presidents, I've never once referred to them as the enemy.

3) This has nothing to do with Free Speech. He's an idiot for bringing that to the forefront.

1. true, I've said as much before

2. perhaps not you, personally, but there were plenty of people who considered W "the enemy" and a lot of them said as much in public. A double standard is at work here.

3. free speech can have adverse consequences, though I doubt Hank, Jr. is losing much sleep over this.

wait. so why did she call him a nazi? I doesn't really say. He was conscripted into the youth ss? Sounds like she just made some dumb comment without knowing the whole story. Again, no sympathy from me - but this has nothing to do with ESPN choosing to part ways with Jr. If whoever wants to part ways with Sarandon then I would completely agree with it.

Because Sarandon is an idiot and because she probably despises the Church since they are traditionally against abortion.

well that's a leap. It seemed like she said it because he was a nazi (conscripted so not by choice). let's not get into the moralities of abortion.
