Is that even required by law any more?

I'm pretty sure that 18 year olds still have to register.

Happy Birthday.

About that selective service stuff, my parents had always told me I had to do it at 18, and when I turned 18 last year, I asked some friends about it and they looked at me like I was an idiot.

Went ahead and did it a few months after I turned 18.

Actually, I think when I filled out my FAFSA forms it automatically registered me for selective service.

My moms got me the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia.

Cool, you're going to be a good resource to have around. It's about time you start earning your keep.

They'll be the ones feeling like an idiot when they apply for a Pell grant or any other federal program.

dont think you can get into college without submitting your selective service number with your application. I think your application will get rejected.

That's right... gotta have the SSN to get into Tennessee Tech anyway.

The kids my age I'd asked about it just didn't know about it, I guess.

That was just one of the things my parents always told me I had to look forward to when I turned 18... buy cigarettes legally, vote, and sign up for the draft.

I think the selective service is optional but you have to do it for Federal financial aid. If you have enough $ to pay for college then they will still admit you without registering.

Sorry for the late post. Happy birthday. Hope it was a good one. Like my dad told me when I turned 18, you screw up now, you go to big boy jail. (You are 18 right, if not disregard my last sentence)
