Considering what Trey has been through and the doubters about him during the draft, what a story. VFL is fixing to get paid.

They’re shortchanging him imo. Unless KC can come up with $21 mil per mostly guaranteed (hometown “discount”), teams like Chicago will fight to give him $110 mil fully guaranteed…also imo.

No chance in hell he gets a fully guaranteed deal....

Haslam was the only guy stupid enough to give a 9 figure fully guaranteed deal to a player

@butchna

There are too many poorly run teams with cap space so I can see Trey resetting the Guard market and becoming the first Guard with $50M fully guaranteed. I think some team gets to the 55-60M fully guaranteed range. A team like the Bears that might make some sense. A team like the Titans or Raiders, not so much given how many holes they have...

I think he exceeds the $21M AAV that was speculated in this article. I wouldnt be shocked if its 5/115 (however, those last 2 years wont be guaranteed and the 3rd one only partially)....

Ever peruse Lamar Jackson’s contract? Bears are desperate for a linchpin at IOL and they’ll overpay and over promise for the best one in this FA class.

Wouldn’t happen without the proven durability. Teven Jenkins a tragic cautionary tale.

Lamar is 5/260 with 135M fully guaranteed. Makes what Haslam did with Watson completely stupid.

I dont love Trey at $23-$25M a year but if you have a QB on a rookie deal, it makes sense for Chicago. That division is a bear but they are further along than TN, NE, or LV...

Bears need him badly. They need to upgrade at almost every position if I’m being honest, but the interior of the OL in particular absolutely stunk this past season. Put in a mauler at guard like Trey Smith next to Darnell Wright and now we’re starting to build a competent OL.
