Good grief, did you just spit that out of your head? That's a lot of thinking and results typed out really quickly! Impressive and I highly agree, except that I would take Neyland over Fulmer any day. :)

Well done, sir! :hi:

Just a quick thought, but I'd put the General as the HC and move Fulmer to the OL coach and recruiting coordinator. Solid list.

I am one of the biggest Fulmerite's ever, but The General is the head coach.

This is about winning in today's SEC. While the General was a great coach in his day, he would be like a fish out of water trying to coach that team against the likes of Saban, Spurrier, etc. I'm not just targeting Neyland, the same is true for people like Bobby Dodd and even Bear Bryant. The same thing goes for athletes. Doug Atkins would not be a good DE today, nor would Johnny Majors be able to outrun anyone. That doesn't take away from what they accomplished in their time, it's just a testimate to how football, like all other aspects of society, has experienced exponential evolution in an unprecendent amount of time during the course of the 20th century.

Atkins was a man among boys in the 50s and 60s. While he may be a decent player today, he would not be dominant because everyone else has caught up in a big way. See: Chamberlain, Wilt

imo , when people ask for an all time team they mean , who was the best at those positions at the time they played for UT , not how good would they be if they played now . Maybe the op could clear that up
