Harbaugh Show Cause

The two most fascinating subplots that nobody has been able to provide answers too...

1) If Big Ten teams knew of Michigan's alleged sign stealing in September of 2022 (which has been reported by multiple people) then how come no one reported it to the Big Ten till October of 2023?

2) How in the hell did Conor Stalions get on the CMU sideline?

Outside firm did the investigation and reported to the NCAA then in turn to the Big Ten

Again, if teams knew about this in September of 2022, how come nobody reported it to the NCAA or the Big Ten?

The NCAA has a page on their website that lists football champions as declared by other organizations (AP, USA Today, Bowl Alliance, BCS, etc.) throughout the history of the sport. They can certainly delete any team they want from that page but it's meaningless.

The only thing meaningless would be allowing them to keep it. They were caught cheating and they don’t get to display a ceremonial trophy.

You are welcome to say all trophies are meaningless, but if you think it has any meaning, then they should not have it.

This is pretty much just window dressing by the NCAA. Harbaugh was an easy target since he was off to the NFL. They did the same thing with Chip Kelly after he left Oregon for the Eagles. This gave an opportunity for the NCAA to look tough. I sincerely doubt that if Harbaugh were still at Michigan, the punishment would have been nearly as severe.

Every NCAA sport but FBS has a championship trophy like this.

There is no NCAA trophy for FBS because there is no official FBS champion per the NCAA.

Any action the NCAA takes on the the FBS championship is meaningless

Yeah, I got it the first time.

You keep saying that and I keep telling you that schools have returned the trophies in the past because the NCAA told them to, no matter where the trophy came from.

Why were there two national champions in 2003?

Despite the national controversy, the games went on. USC beat Michigan 28-14 in the Rose Bowl, and LSU beat Oklahoma 21-14 in the Sugar Bowl. LSU was declared national champions by the BCS, but the AP voters chose to not adhere to the BCS computers and declared USC its national champions. Split champions.

I wonder how many national titles those same AP voters credit Nick Saban for.

No where in the report does the NCAA say return a trophy

Why was the NCAA able to strip USC of their title?
View attachment 665497
Actually, the NCAA wasn’t the one to do it, in the case of USC. It’s elaborated a bit further down in that same Wikipedia article:

“The vacated games included the Trojans' Orange Bowl win. On June 6, 2011, the BCS officially vacated USC's 2004 National Championship. The AP released a statement saying that USC will keep its 2004 AP title.”

The Bowl Championship Series organization vacated and pulled USC’s national title (following the NCAA punishments resulting in the vacating the those last two games), not the NCAA.

I was going to continue responding, but I have ran out of steam. Please read into it that we just didn’t understand what one another was trying to say.
