(I think it's been great that we've had "Gruden-lite" this offseason with the basketball team).

Hart has failed again.

First, he allowed Bruce to go to a rival. Second, he failed, as with the Gruden rumors, to put the kibosh on the possibility of Bruce coming back home this year.

He would have sat on his hands with Dooley except for the colossal failure to find Rommel. He is sitting on his hands with Cuonzo now. He has articulated no vision for the program.

The only good news is I like our chances of bringing back Bruce next year if we have the season we expect next year. I should say "would" like our chances except for the dynamic duo of Hart & Cheek.

Nothing against Cuonzo. Cuonzo >> Dooley. However, we had the basketball Gruden equivalent in Knoxville (possibly >> Gruden), and the AD has to date seemingly done nothing (again).

How do you know Bruce even wanted to be here?

Auburn is not a rival.

I'm extremely disappointed. Bruce would be on my Mt. Rushmore of Tennessee coaches behind The General, Fulmer, and Pat.

If he cared about the Vols at all he would have had auburn make this announcement after our game not the day before it and get our fan even more separated.

The reason Bruce is at Auburn and not Tennessee is Bruce.

Move on.

Actually, Hamilton, not Bruce. Any AD worth a damn would have fought to keep him (and would have won) and any AD now should fight to bring him back home.

Hambone and Hart - instead of the Decade of Dominance giving us the Decade of Knucklehead.

The going-ons of the athletic department at the University of Tennessee have officially become a form of grown a$$ man Soap Opera. This kind of stuff should be embarrassing.

I didn't like the way Hart handled the football hire, but he can't do anything about Pearl. Even if he wanted to fire Martin (which he won't), we still have a game to play. Timing was a problem. Auburn fired Barbee before he got home from the SECT because they wanted to get ahead on the search. Hart had no control over this. You can't make a statement about a former coach when there is an existing coach in place- that is totally out of bounds. I simply do not agree with your post.

Hamilton didn't want to fire him IIRC.

Enough crying. He was never coming back. Thanks for what you did for us Bruce. Time to move on.

Cuonzo is still learning how to coach at this level. I think he is getting better, and I hope he has great success here.

Support our boys. That's what matters most. Go Vols. Beat Iowa.

Hamilton stuck with him until it was clear he couldn't without repercussions. This is on Bruce.

You've got to be kidding?.? Do you seriously think that Auburn gives a s**t about our fan base.

They offered him the job and he accepted. No one, AU or Pearl, owes the Tennessee fan base the courtesy of waiting to release the information.

Man, we've got some real Sallie's in our fan base.

The reason Bruce is at Auburn and not Tennessee is Bruce.

Move on.

This. The victim syndrome that we have attributed to Bruce Pearl is unfathomable.

He is going to march down to the Plains today and fill them with the same line of BS (destination job, AU gave me a chance, I love AU, this is my home) that he fed us starting 9 years ago.

He is a salesman, and a really good one. If anyone really believed he was as pro-Tennessee as he portrayed, then you bought his pitch, hook, line, & sinker.

Bruce Pearl is looking out for Bruce Pearl, and he now has a new fanbase to fleece. I wish he had never left, but he is solely to blame for that. He isn't a victim of anything but himself.

How do you know Bruce even wanted to be here?

Maybe the fact that he continued to live in Knoxville for three years after he was fired and has shown up at civic events in UT attire?....but getting back to the point of this thread, did the op really expect Hart to fire Martin while there was still a chance that we would make the NCAA tournament? To a certain extent his hands were tied.

Bruce cares about Bruce.

Seriously, come on. I highly doubt us having a game tommorrow has an inkling on the timing of the announcement. If I was Auburn I would have announced it the second its official also. This is a big step for Auburn basketball. I don't blame Bruce, he is a coach and a darn good one. He was hungry to get back to coaching and probably wanted to stay in the South. I always said I wanted to see Bruce Pearl back in orange..... I guess I should have been more specific. GRRRRRRRR !!!!!

GO VOLS

There are so many options out there besides Pearl. It may be a year from now, but better times are coming.
