Hart has failed (again)

(I think it's been great that we've had "Gruden-lite" this offseason with the basketball team).

Hart has failed again.

First, he allowed Bruce to go to a rival. Second, he failed, as with the Gruden rumors, to put the kibosh on the possibility of Bruce coming back home this year.

He would have sat on his hands with Dooley except for the colossal failure to find Rommel. He is sitting on his hands with Cuonzo now. He has articulated no vision for the program.

The only good news is I like our chances of bringing back Bruce next year if we have the season we expect next year. I should say "would" like our chances except for the dynamic duo of Hart & Cheek.

Nothing against Cuonzo. Cuonzo >> Dooley. However, we had the basketball Gruden equivalent in Knoxville (possibly >> Gruden), and the AD has to date seemingly done nothing (again).

Bruce would have to pay a $5 million buyout. He's not leaving Auburn anytime soon.

Actually, Hamilton, not Bruce. Any AD worth a damn would have fought to keep him (and would have won) and any AD now should fight to bring him back home.

Hambone and Hart - instead of the Decade of Dominance giving us the Decade of Knucklehead.
I'm thinking you throw a fit when you don't get your way...am I right?:stinker2:

I was with you all the way to this point. That's where it all became irrelevant again because you seem to think comparing how Kiffin, Dooley, and Martin have conducted themselves publicly is relevant in any way, shape, or form as it relates to the puff job Pearl did.

My point is that all the fans who really believed he was sooooo in love with Tennessee are about to look like the flattered fool when he goes down to Auburn and recites the same tired BS to their fanbase.

Every coach at every program has the same sales pitch to the fan base.

My comments on Dooley, Kiffin, and Martin are relevant to your assertion that Pearl somehow "fleeced" this program and fan base.

Those guys could be accused of "fleecing" the fan base. None of them delivered on anything they promised coming into the program.

Pearl delivered a level of sustained success here. He was fired for lying to try and protect the program and himself. Fleecing this program was the last thing he did. The guy put everything he had into the program and made an error in judgement that cost him his job.

You and alot of others are of the same mindset from my viewpoint.

Probably on Pearl's jock the entire time he was here but now that he actually went to another school and moved on, he is the worst thing ever.

It's like you broke up with a girl and when she starts dating someone else, she all of a sudden is a b*tch.

High school level stupidity.

Ridiculous. Pearl did not want to coach at Tenn. This board needs a rant and rave section.

As much as it sucks for our fan base that Bruce Pearl isnt coming back, fans need to remember that Martin is still under contract, and both parties (Bruce/UTAD) probably felt in their own minds that going backwards would not be in the best interest for either at this time.
Who knows, if CCM fails, maybe Dave Hart will open up the checkbook, especially if attendance starts to dwindle more so than it already has at TBA..Maybe UT takes a shot one more time at Wichita State head coach Greg Marshall. There will never be another Pearl as far as character/passion; but there are plenty of sound coaches who are always winning at the upper echelons/mid card levels.

The first two posts say it all! The first post has 6 likes and the second has 67 now. That is 11 to 1 in favor of the smart people! Bruce embarrassed UT and left us in the position that forced us to fire him. He screwed himself and you people who want to ignore it remind me of parents of a little brat that think his reign of terror is cute. Wake up to the real world!!

GO VOLS!!!!! BEAT IOWA!!!!!!

I asked this question yesterday on a Radio station and they never answered so i'll ask it here: What would happen if it came out that Bruce called Hart to see if there was any interest in him coming back if Conzone was fired and Bruce was told NO!!

If Bruce called inquiring about a job that was currently filled he would be even more unethical than I thought.

Close doesn't count except in horseshoes and hand grenades

Ahh, you forgot nuclear war!

Anyway, Hart played this fiddle quite well. He owes none of us any explanations and would have been condemned by the VN legions no matter what was publicly stated.

Who knows what is said in private as to the vision for the programs he manages. Praise in public, condemn in private should be his guiding principle.

I hope your embarrassed now. This thread is a disgrace. Bruce is not coming back and bad fans like you have ostracized our coach Cuonzo Martin. I hope he comes back next year despite all the bad (and unfortunately loud) fans.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Bruce is going to be at Auburn for as long as Auburn wants him. They have committed a lot of money to Bruce and there are some hefty buyouts for the next four years.....5 million buyout if Bruce leaves in the next two years and 4 million in years three and four. Got to give Auburn credit. They know how to get their guy and keep him. It's time for us to move on.

I was "all over Pearl's jock", to borrow your eloquent phrasing, when he was here.

Using your high school girlfriend example though, what he did isn't even equitable to a girl dumping someone. I didn't turn my back on him when he "broke up with me". I turned my back on him when he lied and cheated on me, which is a more accurate portrayal of what he did to Tennessee fans by lying to the NCAA and nailing the university to the wall.

He did so to protect himself first and foremost, and then the program. For you to believe otherwise is disingenuous and/or naive.

I'll agree that he delivered on his promise to win, but he fleeced this fanbase into believing that he was somehow "in love" with everything orange, and that just wasn't true. He wasn't anywhere near as loyal to the university as he would have you to believe, and he won't be at Auburn either, despite the emotional pleas otherwise.

He is looking out for himself. A tiger (no pun intended in this case) doesn't change his stripes, and as I said earlier, if you choose to believe otherwise, you're either kidding yourself, or naive.
