Hart Said UT Had A LOT of Problems

There is only one candidate out there that would scare the rest of the SEC to death... Petrino!

What are they afraid of, he's hasn't hoisted one SEC championship or appeared in any SEC championship games. Petrino is a Chaney of steroids, and good luck trying to sale Petrino (journeyman and adulterer) to recruits and their parents.

UT needs to take the Arkansas approach and think outside the box, also stop targeting guys you have no shot at landing. Mike Riley, Jim Tressel, Mark Dantonio, Kyle Whittingham, or Gary Anderson (Utah State) would be an excellent hire for the program.

Heard a funny comment about Hart & Cheek.... "These two couldn't get laid in a whore house with a fistful of $100 bills" - UT Booster

What I want to know is how arky signed the wisconsin coach without any apparent resistance from badger nation. They guy has a good record--three straight rose bowls--and unless I missed it there was no drama involving counter-offers etc. Had we tried to sign him I'm sure it would have been different!

I have a feeling Cheek does not want the baggage that Petrino or Davis or Tressel would bring. That has to be why no interest in those three. If we can't get a three-quarters stout head coach, then we should offer the job to Chavis. I've been banging on him because he would be BETTER than bringing in some unknown head coach from the Mac or somesuch. The only difference between Chavis and Strong is Strong's two/three years at Louisville--which is something but not a whole helluva lot.

Bielema wasn't approachable or fan friendly, most Wisky can considered him to be too arrogant. Not to mention his assistants were underpaid with a high turnover ratio.

The internal issues are related to control and academic structure. These are issues that came into play during Hamilton's tenure as AD.

Hart is not the problem but Hart is having to fight very hard to get things cleaned up. Cheek and Martin are wanting an Ivy League university.

It took Hart and some boosters to get money released back into the athletic department. It should have never took such a fight. When Fulmer was coach (prior to Hamilton as AD) we did not have these issues.

At the press conference announcing Dooley's firing, Hart said that he had a level of information that no one else has. At the time, it made me feel confident. Now, I wonder if he was overconfident in what he thought he knew. I hope he or the boosters bail this out, but right now Hart looks terrible.

I dont think it was over confidence in what he knew rather maybe over confidence in winning the battle, which to me is understandable. No AD takes a job because they think that they will fail.

The thing to keep in mind is that Hart is fighting what seems to be an up hill battle with Cheek and Martin.

Hart is going after the WRONG people...Gundy and Strong only interviewed so they would get that big raise and look like hero's to their respected fan bases...FACT...He has 3 top coaches looking him square in the face and he just won't take the step to go after them...Not sure WHY but he's not...You got Jim Tressel, you got Butch Davis and as a last resort you got Petrino...WTF isn't he going after any of those??...They are proven winning coaches and everyone of them are capable of turning a program around quickly....He's going to keep going after these coaches who are going to use him for that big raise...Hire ANY of the big 3 I just mentioned and we'll be on our way back in no time.
Because all 3 come with baggage stamped NCAA. The last thing we need is bad press and the AA sniffing around. All of those guys were labeled as good coaches but neither has ever really lived up to it truly. Tressel and Davis both did ok at programs where recruiting was an afterthought. Petrino is a drama queen prone to fidelity issues. Neither is a good fit for this. X's and O's they are all great but it off the field stuff and recruiting I worry about.

UT fans wouldn't stand for one season of Petrino recruiting. The guy puts all his eggs in the offensive basket. At Arkansas he had a platform to become a recruiter. He didn't. He got decent talent, and obviously put up prolific offenses. But I assure you, UT fans would be in panic mode if they had Arkansas recruiting results the past five years.

Regarding the problems. They are fundemental problems in the AD. Hart has basically been trying to clean up a bloated AD, which has resulted in pissing off people, law suits and even being accused of forcing Summitt to retire. (I don't believe that)
You have a Chancellor who is not on the same page with the AD.
UT has a President now, but you hear virtually nothing from him regarding anything in athletics. Of course with all the chaos UT has had with Presidents, perhaps they have redfined the office.

I have been saying this from the beginning, before Gundy or Strong ever turned us down. He is looking at coaches that he is aware will not take this job. In short, Gundy was never leaving OK after a recent contract extention and building a multi million dollar home in Stillwater. Strong's AD had already stated he would pay whatever to keep Strong, so Hart knew he wasn't leaving. Fedora is a first year coach at NC and only a piece of crap like Kiffen would leave. Now, that leaves us looking like no one wants this job just after ESPN listed this as the best opening in NCAA. Do you see the pattern. Hart always wanted the unpopular Kiry Smart knowing he had no HC experience he would be a tough sale. However, he if he is a "last choice" then the fans will be relieved to have a coach in place and Hart will have his Bama boy. Now I have taken criticism on here for pointing this out. But remember, I called this before the job was even offered to Gundy or Strong. Now, things are playing out just like I said they would. He hasn't even considered the other candidates who are right in front of him. Patrino, Tressel or Davis would all be a step in the right direction. People we are at the bottom and these are proven coaches, proven winners. Thats what we need. In every case, the risk is definately worth the reward. I have researched it. There doesn't seem to be any reward with Kirby Smart and using Tennessee to train Saban's staff for Head Coaching jobs. This has proven to be a failure and if we repeat the same action we should expect the very same result!

They did ok? Tressel is one of the winningest coaches in College football and so is Patrino. Tressel's "baggage is a show cause slap on the wrist. It is not like hiring him is going to cause an NCAA investigation. He has a show cause and it is exactly what it says it is and no more. link look up Tressel' show cause worth the risk for Tennessee. There is an article the explains everything. Now Patrino is a proven winner too and will coach and win again. Davis has never had any violations and has been cleared by NCAA of any wrong doing. So, it seems like you and Hart are looking for excuses. One must weigh the benefits as well as risks. At this point, the benefits of all three of these coaches far out weigh any risks.

This is way over people's head. Nice try but unfortunately few have been trying to get the "We r UT dang it" crowd to understand the underlying issues that are going on in the AD. Reason why hammy hired dooley over any other IMO. People just think its on the field stuff but HCs do more than just that. When everything is good then yeah he can focus on just being the coach but not in UTs case and why many coaches are being weary of coming here IMO.

People need to really understand this but I've been on here long enough to know that I'm apparently the idiot for saying what I'm saying. UTs AD and Football program is a big hot mess right now. Until people understand what rebuilding a business is all about then they will remain just ignorant.

Good post bud. :good!: Just sad it won't do anything at all.

Until Hart and Cheek are gone we'll never get things straightened out again and get our football team back on top.

Sad fact that is.
